The pickup truck iteration of the Scorpio N could be a relatively affordable alternative to the likes of Toyota Hilux
In a recent online video, the Mahindra Scorpio N pickup truck was spied road testing. Scorpio N is among the most popular products in its category. Carrying the Scorpio moniker into the modern era, the Scorpio N is, essentially, a new-age and much more premium version of the Scorpio Classic. It wooed customers since the day it was launched and the demand hasn’t receded yet. With a pickup truck avatar on the anvil, it will be interesting to see how the public reacts to it.
Mahindra Scorpio N Pickup Truck Spotted
The specifics of this case stem from vashusingh123 on Instagram. The visuals capture a heavily camouflaged pickup truck amidst traffic on a public road. Despite the covering, the alloy wheels and the front silhouette give away its identity. In fact, the front grille and LED headlamp configuration is unmistakably Scorpio N. The pickup is being tested on the road and is seen making a U-turn on a highway. The rear section contains a cargo bed with metallic roads to secure luggage or offer a grip for people should they wish to stand at the back. More details will surface in times to come.
While there have been no formal announcements from the Indian automaker regarding the Mahindra Scorpio N pickup truck, we can expect it to borrow most elements from the regular Scorpio N. This includes powertrain and transmission options. These incorporate a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder mStallion turbo petrol mill which churns out a colossal 200 PS and 380 Nm or a 2.2-litre 4-cylinder mHawk turbo diesel engine which is available in two variants โ 132 PS / 300 Nm or 175 PS / 400 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. There will be options of choosing between either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The higher variants will get a sophisticated 4×4 drivetrain.

My View
Now, we know that the pickup truck category is not overtly popular in India. In fact, we have seen the Toyota Hilux with massive discounts because the dealers were not able to sell all the units. Hence, it will be intriguing to see if Mahindra Scorpio N pickup truck could change the opinion of the mass public regarding these types of vehicles. They often serve multiple purposes including luggage carriers, off-roading SUVs and multi-purpose vehicles. Let us keep an eye out for more details in this regard.
