It seems like the Mahindra electric SUV has been having a rough time at the moment
In a matter of days, we have witnessed yet another crash of a Mahindra XEV 9e. The XEV 9e is the latest coupe electric SUV from the Indian auto giant. It is a part of the new breed of EVs from Mahindra based on the INGLO platform. With these SUVs, Mahindra wants to go international. Hence, we see a modern design philosophy along with a heavy usage of the latest tech to pamper the customers and entice them. For now, let us take a look at the details of this latest case.
Mahindra XEV 9e Crash
This video stems from Raftaar 7811 on YouTube. This channel features content around the performances of popular cars during unfortunate incidents. On this occasion, a Mahindra XEV 9e is seen in a damaged condition. The front left section of the electric SUV is severely deformed. This includes the bonnet, fender, headlamps, bumper, tyre and more. It is unclear how this came to pass. Also, the details pertaining to injuries to the occupants are scarce.
Mahindra XEV 9e Bharat NCAP Score
Interestingly, the Mahindra XEV 9e is the safest SUV in the country with the highest score in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP). In fact, it secured a full 5-star safety rating in AOP and Child Occupant Protection (COP) departments. Looking closely, the electric SUV scored a full 32 points out of 32 in AOP and 45 points out of 49 in COP. The EV boasts a long list of standard safety features including 6 airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts at the rear, a seatbelt pretensioner, a seatbelt load-limiter, an airbag cut-off switch, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), pedestrian protection (AIS-100) and seatbelt reminder.
Moreover, the XEV 9e managed to bag 16 points out of 16 in the Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier Test and 16 points out of 16 in the Side Movable Deformable Barrier Test, while the Side Pole Impact Pole Test was rated โOKโ. Additionally, in the COP section, it scored a Dynamic Score of 24 out of 24, a CRS Installation Score of 12 out of 12 and a Vehicle Assessment Score of 9 out of 13 for a total of 45 points out of a possible 49. All these stats are enough to award the coupe electric SUV a full 5-star rating in both categories.
