Land Rover has introduced the 2015 Discovery with a few tweaks here and there. The Land Rover Discovery is celebrating its 25th Anniversary and has announced the launch of a special edition model which will be launched later in 2014, the new Land Rover Discovery gets some of the features that will be available on the special edition.
Available on order the new Land Rover Discovery will be at the dealerships by September 2014. Since the tweaks in this variant of the Discovery are not exactly groundbreaking, we do not expect a massive deviation on the price which ranges from Rs. 1.06 to Rs. 1.14 Crore as on date.
What’s New:
“To mark 25 years of Discovery, Land Rover offered more premium luxury in the form of the XXV Special Edition. Striking attributes from this anniversary derivative are now being made available across the range for our customers to bring that level of heightened luxury into their Discovery of choice,” said Phil Popham, Jaguar Land Rover Group Marketing Director.
“InControl Apps adds another dimension to the Discovery’s attributes and another meaning to work-life balance by enabling safe and efficient access to essential smartphone content and in-car apps from the vehicle’s touchscreen,” he added.
These new features that Mr. Phil Popham is talking about in the above mentioned statement are:
Interiors:
- Interior cabin equipped with two-tone Ebony/Cirrus Windsor leather seats along with a Grand Black Lacquer wood.
- New leather-wrapped steering wheel
- A Straight Grained Walnut wood trim
- Support for Land Rover InControl Apps
Exteriors:
On the exterior front, the new Land Rover Discovery gets,
- Five-spoke XXV 20-inch alloys featuring a light silver polished finish.
- The car will be available with new exterior paint options (namely Montalcino Red, Kaikoura Stone, Aruba and Yulong)
Engine:
Available in engine options of petrol and diesel both; the 3.0-liter V6 supercharged petrol motor of 335 BHP and 450 Nm of torque alongside the TDV6 diesel rated 208 BHP and a 3.0-liter SDV6 outputting 343 BHP are paired to the much refined ZF eight-speed automatic gearbox. The start/stop system will also prove to be a boon for these motors
The Emphasis has clearly been on improving the luxury quotient of the Discovery rather than performance. The new Land Rover Discovery is a refined product well worth its price tag and a worthy successor in this lineage.
