Toyota Hilux is a prominent pickup truck which has been due for a thorough update for a long time now
In this post, I am discussing the new 2026 Toyota Hilux which was caught testing recently. Hilux has been an incredibly successful pickup truck across many international markets for a while. This is particularly true for nations across South East Asia, South Africa and Australia. The capable pickup truck has also been available in India. However, it hasn’t enjoyed as much success as it would’ve anticipated. In any case, the new 2026 model could attract new buyers. Let us take a look at the details of the new Hilux here.
New 2026 Toyota Hilux Spotted Testing
The specifics of this case stem from CarExpert on YouTube. The host reports that the testing has commenced in Thailand which is where the Australian-spec model will be manufactured. In fact, the spy images showcase the camouflaged pickup truck on the road. Now, the front fascia certainly seems updated with LED DRLs on the extreme edges of the bonnet. Also, the front profile boasts a colossal grille section with an underbody protection guard while the main headlamp cluster has been neatly concealed. On the sides, the large wheel arches are still there.
Also, the side steps elevate the ingress and egress characteristics of the pickup truck. Interestingly, the side body panels resemble the existing Hilux. That also indicates that the platform will be carried forward from the current model. There are sporty alloy wheels and the tail section contains LED taillights with a large cargo compartment. While the glimpses of the inside are scarce, the host claims that there won’t be any change to the space inside the cabin. However, the features list could be updated slightly. All in all, there won’t be a revolutionary change.
Specs
It is also strange to see the new 2026 Toyota Hilux pickup truck most likely carrying on with the same powertrain as the current model. This includes a familiar 2.8-litre 4-cylinder turbo diesel mill which generates a healthy 201 hp (150 kW) and 500 Nm of peak power and torque. This engine will pair with an automatic transmission and 4×4 capabilities. In essence, there will barely be enough changes on the outside, inside or under the hood to be too excited about. The launch in Thailand could take place this year with other markets to follow soon. Let us keep an eye out for more details as the launch nears.
