Mahindra XEV 9e – Specs
The Mahindra XEV 9e is on sale with BYDโs Blade Cell technology with LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) chemistry โ 59 kWh and 79 kWh. Note that the battery is considered one of the safest in the world. The buyers can expect a range of 542 km and 656 km of range on a single charge, respectively, as per the MIDC. In fact, Mahindra goes as far as saying that the real-world range could be over 500 km. That will certainly tune a lot of new buyers in. Apart from that, it utilizes the compact โthree-in-one powertrainโ (motor, inverter, transmission). The power and torque figures range from 231 hp and 380 Nm with the smaller battery to 286 hp and 380 Nm with the larger unit. Hence, the performance will be in plenty.
It is impressive to see that even the charging capabilities are world-class. The bigger battery can be juiced up from 20% to 80% in a mere 20 minutes with a 175 kW DC fast charger. Things are even more comprehensive when it comes to the smaller battery pack where the same process is achieved with a 140 kW DC fast charger. These are for public charging situations. For home charging, there are two options โ a 7.2 kW or an 11 kW AC charger. With the 11 kW AC charger, the EV takes 6 hours to charge the smaller battery and 8 hours to juice up the larger unit. In the most aggressive settings, the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h comes up in just 6.8 seconds. Taking care of the stopping power, the EV gets all four disc brakes and a brake-by-wire system. This enables a stopping distance of 40 m to come to a halt from 100 km/h. Mahindra is also offering a warranty of 10 years / 2,00,000 km (whichever is earlier) for the initial batch of buyers.
Mahindra BE 6e – Specs
Thereafter, let us discuss the Mahindra BE 6e coupe electric SUV. As mentioned previously, even it uses the INGLO platform. Also, the two battery packs – 59 kWh and 79 kWh – use BYDโs Blade Cell technology with LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) chemistry. In this EV, the ARAI-claimed range figures are 535 km and 682 km (550 km on WLTP), respectively. Again, Mahindra says that the users will be able to squeeze out around 500 km on a single charge in real-world conditions. It will also get the compact โthree-in-one powertrainโ (motor, inverter and transmission).ย The power and torque figures range from 228 hp / 380 Nm for the smaller battery to 281 hp / 380 Nm for the larger one.ย
One can choose between 3 drive modes – Range, Everyday and Race. The acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h comes up in just 6.7 seconds in the most powerful settings. There is also a Boost mode on offer that temporarily provides the entire power and torque for 10 seconds. Doing the charging duties is a 175 kW DC fast charger which juices up the larger battery pack from 20% to 80% in a mere 20 minutes. For home charging, you can use a 7.3 kW or 11.2 kW AC charger. Also, the coupe electric SUV has a ground clearance of 207 mm. Hence, both these EVs are immensely capable. It remains to be seen how well the customers embrace these.
