The electric vehicle segment in India is heating up with tons of new models for this year
In this post, I am comparing the new Hyundai Creta Electric and Mahindra BE 6e on the basis of specs, features, price, safety, design and dimensions. The Indian automobile industry is on the verge of the EV revolution. The sales are constantly rising. Carmakers are introducing new models frequently. This gives the potential buyers the option to choose between multiple vehicles. That is a positive sign for the mass adoption of EVs. The Korean auto giant has unveiled the electric iteration of its famed Creta mid-size SUV. On the other hand, Mahindra has also partially launched its next-gen breed of EVs including the BE 6e. For now, let us delve into the specifics of this thorough comparison.

Hyundai Creta Electric vs Mahindra BE 6e – Specs
This is one area where Hyundai has shared some details. Nevertheless, the entire specification information will only be available during the launch event later this month at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. Still, the few specifics we know include two battery pack options – 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh. With the larger battery pack, the ARAI-claimed range on a single charge is 473 km, while this number is 370 km for the smaller battery. That is a decent range but the real-world figures will deviate from this depending on the external conditions, as well as driving mannerisms. Furthermore, Hyundai even claims a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of just 7.9 seconds, which is great for a vehicle of this size. Moreover, there will be drive modes on offer – Eco, Normal and Sport. Interestingly, it gets a steering column-mounted drive mode selector and features single-pedal driving called i-Pedal technology. Going from 10% to 80% charging using a DC fast charger takes 58 minutes and with the 11 kW AC wall box charger, it takes 4 hours to charge the battery fully from 10%. The Active Aero Flaps will boost range and efficiency by reducing drag.
On the other hand, the Mahindra BE 6e is also available with two battery pack options – 59 kWh and 79 kWh. These embody BYD’s Blade Cell technology with LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) chemistry. This results in ARAI-rated range figures of 535 km and 682 km (550 km on WLTP), respectively. Furthermore, the BE 6e consists of a compact ‘three-in-one powertrain’ (motor, inverter and transmission). This ensures decent power and torque figures ranging from 228 hp / 380 Nm for the smaller battery to 281 hp / 380 Nm for the larger one. There are three drive modes – Range, Everyday and Race. In the most aggressive settings, the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h comes up in a mere 6.7 seconds. Doing the charging duties is a 175 kW DC fast charger which juices up the larger battery pack from 20% to 80% in a mere 20 minutes. For home charging, you can separately purchase a 7.3 kW or 11.2 kW AC charger.

Design and Dimensions
This is one part where the two differ significantly. The Hyundai Creta Electric shares most exterior and styling components with the regular Creta. Still, the Korean giant has made sure that it offers enough alterations to set the two apart. At the front, we see the sleek LED DRLs along with a connected LED light strip which runs the width of the fascia. However, the lower section contains a sealed-off section with rugged black materials with vertically oriented LED headlamps on the extreme edges of the bumper. Lower down, you will even see the sturdy skid plate finished in gunmetal. On the sides, the overall silhouette is unmistakably Creta but the new dual-tone aero alloy wheels, black side pillars, black roof and side body skirtings with black wheel arches cladding enhance the adventurous traits. Finally, the tail end contains a shark fin antenna, connected LED taillamps, a black strip on the bumper and a sporty skid plate. All in all, there are enough modifications to set it apart from the ICE model.
On the other hand, the Mahindra BE 6e bears a modern appearance with a coupe SUV silhouette. At the front, we get to witness an air duct integrated into the bonnet for great aerodynamics, a new logo, striking 7-shaped LED DRLs on the edges encapsulating the LED headlamps with a colossal gloss black element in the middle and a sturdy skid plate section underneath. Moving to the sides reveals colossal 20-inch aero-optimized alloy wheels and chunky wheel arches with gloss black claddings which even extend to the door panels and that sloping roofline. Finally, at the rear, the electric coupe SUV gets a shark fin antenna, a unique roof-mounted dual spoiler, an integrated boot spoiler and a full-width LED taillamp with a sturdy lower bumper. I must mention that looks are subjective but both these vehicles carry their individuality.
Dimensions (in mm) | Hyundai Creta Electric (ICE) | Mahindra BE 6e |
Length | 4,330 | 4,371 |
Width | 1,790 | 1,907 |

My View
Now, choosing between these two can be quite tricky. However, we must first wait for the price announcement of the entire range for both these EVs. Still, if you want something familiar, the Hyundai Creta Electric should be your pick. However, if you are looking for a vehicle with a distinct road presence and one which bears futuristic styling, the Mahindra BE 6e should be on your radar. I must also advise our readers to experience both these in the flesh by visiting the showrooms. In any case, it is hard to go wrong with either of these compelling propositions.
