The much-awaited Kia Syros has finally been revealed for our market. It is a sub-4m compact SUV with a premium experience and the latest technology and convenience. It aims to carve out a niche in this space with tons of segment-best amenities including space, comfort and safety. In fact, it also incorporates Kia’s latest global “Opposites United” design philosophy. Clearly, the Korean auto giant is aiming for a unique proposition to bring luxury to the masses. The bookings will commence in January 2025 with deliveries slated for February 2025. Let us delve deep into all the details of this new SUV.
Kia Syros – Specs
The Kia Syros is based on the reinforced K1 platform. As expected, the compact SUV borrows powertrains from the existing Sonet compact SUV. However, there are only 2 engine options on offer instead of 3 (like in the Sonet) – a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo diesel mill. The power and torque outputs stand at a cool 120 PS / 172 Nm and 116 PS / 250 Nm, respectively. The petrol mill pairs with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox, while the diesel mill uses either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. Hence, the needs of all sorts of buyers will be taken into consideration.

Design
The Kia Syros is based on the brand’s latest “Opposites United” philosophy which is also seen in its latest global models including the new EVs. Hence, we know that it is getting the absolute best that Kia has to offer. At the front, we witness an upright stance with vertical Starmap LED DRLs on the extreme edges of the bumper which encapsulate Ice Cube MFR LED headlamps. In addition to that, it embodies the Kia Signature Digital Tiger Face silhouette. I particularly like the robust front fascia with a skid plate finished in silver metallic shade which accentuates the adventurous demeanour of the compact SUV.
On the sides, we get to witness a unique body shape with dual-tone 17-inch crystal cut alloy wheels, streamline door handles, puddle lamps with Kia logo projection, silver side body cladding, roof rails and a boxy appearance. The wheel arches are squared which lend it an imposing road presence. At the rear, we are able to experience a shark fin antenna, an LED taillamp with vertical components, sporty bumper with a sturdy skid plate. All in all, the Kia Syros is certainly unlike any other vehicle in this space.
Kia India is certainly upping the ante with a diversified portfolio leveraging the demand for SUVs in the country. Let us keep an eye out for how well customers embrace it!
