Kia is expanding its footprint in our market and the Syros is the upcoming model to achieve that
The much-awaited new Kia Syros has been partially revealed via the official teaser. The global debut is slated for December 19, 2024. Going by what the online media houses claim, the Syros will be a sub-4m compact SUV with tons of attractions. It will certainly offer a more premium package for the buyers with many tech features as standard across the range. Note that the compact SUV segment currently incorporates heavyweights like Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV3XO. In fact, even the Sonet belongs to this category. For now, let us take a look at the details of this SUV here.
New Kia Syros Side Profile Revealed
The official teaser has been uploaded by the Kia India channel on YouTube. Being a teaser, we only get quick glimpses of the SUV. Still, it reveals enough for us to get an idea of what it will look like. At the front, it gets distinct LED headlamps with vertical LED DRLs on the extreme edges of the bumper with the main headlights incorporated inside. On the other hand, the tail section contains vertical LED taillamps mounted on the C-pillars and extending horizontally onto the boot lid. Hence, the front and rear profiles definitely point to a modern design language.
However, adjusting the brightness settings a little showcases the erstwhile Skoda Yeti-like side profile. The overall demeanour is boxy with butch side pillars and sturdy roof rails. In fact, the front bonnet is upright and the muscular front and rear fenders are quite apparent. Unfortunately, we are still not able to get a glimpse of the alloy wheel design. Nevertheless, the black C-pillars give the SUV a floating roof effect. All in all, the SUV carries a tough appearance with a solid build. Further details will emerge in the coming days.
Specs
Even though no official announcements have been made yet, it is difficult to believe that it will get any other powertrain than the one found in the Venue. This points to a choice between a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.0-litre turbo petrol or a 1.5-litre turbo diesel mill. These engines will pair with manual and automatic transmissions. Some reports suggest that we might get to see a touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, Level 2 ADAS, sliding and reclining rear seats and more. I shall keep an eye out for more details in this regard.
