Seltos is one of the main reasons for Kia’s massive success as a foreign car brand in India
The next-generation 2025 Kia Seltos has commenced testing in the international markets. Ready to be launched by late 2025 or early 2026 in India, we will start getting information about the mid-size SUV from abroad. Seltos is the sibling to the highest-selling mid-size SUV in the country, the Hyundai Creta. Backed by Hyundai’s experience in India, Kia was able to quickly grasp the mindset of the Indian customers. As a result, it has been the most successful foreign car marque in our market within a short span of time. For now, let us take a look at the details of what the second-generation Seltos could offer.
Next-Generation 2025 Kia Seltos Spied
Note that this is the first time the mid-size SUV has been spotted in India. It is completely wrapped in a heavy camouflage. In this video, we are only able to get a glance at the rear section. The visuals capture a shark fin antenna, LED taillamps with vertical elements, a broad tailgate and a muscular bumper. In fact, we even spotted this SUV in its home market of South Korea a few weeks ago. There will be clear distinctions on the exterior along with new-age alloy wheels. Hence, it will bear significant differences in comparison to the existing model.
Similarly, on the inside, the new Seltos will come with all sorts of modern amenities. In fact, even the current-gen Seltos offers class-leading features. The same can be expected from the new model too. In terms of powertrains, it will be interesting to see whether the Korean auto giant continues with the popular and successful 1.5-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre turbo diesel engines with manual and automatic transmissions. There were even some rumours about a hybrid powertrain. Still, we will have to wait to know more details about that.
My View
Kia Seltos is among the most successful products in its category in India despite stiff competition from all major car marques. Note that this is one of the most crowded segments in our market. Hence, carmakers need to put their best foot forward to have any chance of grabbing a substantial market share. I shall keep an eye out for more details about the new-gen Kia Seltos in the coming months.
