The new 3rd-gen Honda Amaze has been launched in India to take on the 4th-gen Maruti Dzire, Hyundai Aura and Tata Tigor
In this post, we are comparing the new Honda Amaze with the old model with the two cars parked side by side. The new Amaze will take on the mighty new Maruti Dzire in our market. After the arrival of compact SUVs, the sedan segment has taken a hit. Still, products like these two, along with Hyundai Aura and Tata Tigor, have been able to post some resistance and keep the interest of the potential car buyers going. It will be intriguing to see the kind of sales numbers it is able to put going forward. For now, let us compare the two.
New Honda Amaze Parked Alongside Old Model
We get these visuals courtesy of India Revs on YouTube. The host has the two sedans next to each other. At the front, while the overall silhouette is similar, there are new elements on the latest model. This includes a sleek LED headlamp unit with integrated LED DRLs and a chrome bar connecting them. Note that the chrome elements on the front grille of the old model were more in number. The new model has a larger grille section with a sporty bumper and elegant fog lamp housings. The differences in the side profile are minimal apart from alloy wheels and LaneWatch camera mounted on ORVMs. At the rear, the taillamp of the new Amaze looks like it has been borrowed by the City. Note that the old model got chrome inserts on the bumper which is missing in the new version.

Interior Comparison
On the inside, there are a few distinct changes in the new model in contrast to the old version. Firstly, the dashboard layout is new with a dual-tone theme and a textured surface with new AC vents. However, the biggest change is the 8-inch freestanding touchscreen infotainment unit which looks better than the one of the old car. Also, the 7-inch part-digital instrument cluster is a welcome addition. Furthermore, the new model gets wireless charging and Honda Sensing ADAS tech which is the first in the segment. At the rear, the new Amaze offers an armrest, better headrests and AC vents to take care of the passengers. These additions certainly set it apart from the outgoing model. Other highlights of the new Amaze include:
- 416-litre Boot Space
- Digital AC
- Welcome Animation and Customization
- Class-Leading Rear Headroom and Legroom
- 6-speaker Premium Surround Sound System
- Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

Specs and Price
One area which remains the same is what powers the compact sedans. The new Honda Amaze draws power from an E20-compatible 1.2-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol mill which is good for 90 PS and 110 Nm of peak power and torque. Performing the transmission duties is either a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox. This time around, Honda claims mileage figures of 18.65 km/l with the manual and 19.46 km/l with the automatic transmission. This is almost similar to the old Amaze. The prices of the new car range from Rs Rs 8 lakh to Rs 10.90 lakh, ex-showroom. The old version retailed between Rs 7.20 lakh and Rs 9.96 lakh, ex-showroom. Hence, there is a substantial difference.
