After the arrival of the new-gen Maruti Dzire, even Honda is coming up with its Amaze to rival the giant of this space
In this latest post, we were able to catch glimpses of the new-generation Honda Amaze leaked at a dealership. Amaze has been a worthy rival to the likes of the Maruti Dzire, Hyundai Aura and Tata Tigor. However, it was due for a thorough update for a long time. In the last few weeks, the Japanese car marque officially released teaser images in the form of design sketches for the exterior and interior. However, the compact sedan has finally started appearing in the showrooms. Let us take a look at the details.
New-Generation Honda Amaze Leaked
The leaked images clearly showcase the new-generation Honda Amaze parked at the stockyard, ready for the launch. Generally, carmakers keep the exterior styling under wraps until the launch. Still, somehow, people have been able to experience it fully prior to the launch. At the front, we see an updated fascia with sleek LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs which are connected via a chrome slab just above the massive front grille. I particularly like the lower section which contains horizontal elements and fog lamps on either side. Even the rear section has been showcased which possesses slim LED taillamps which even extend out of the body. It reminds me of the taillamps of the City. Also, there is a shark fin antenna, a sporty bumper and an integrated bootlid spoiler.
On the inside, the similarity from the design sketches comes to life. There is a chunky 3-spoke steering wheel with multimedia controls, a free-floating touchscreen infotainment display on the centre console, a textured dashboard with unique design patterns with neatly merged air-con vents and what appears to be physical controls below the screen. The digital instrument cluster is not visible in these images. We are also able to spot the rear AC vents. It will be interesting to see if it gets ADAS to boost the active safety prowess.
Specs
Even though the interior and exterior are fresh, I reckon the powertrain options will be carried forward just like on the existing model. This means a 1.2-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol mill which churns out a decent 90 PS and 110 Nm of peak power and torque. Performing the transmission duties will either be a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic. This is slightly more power than the latest Maruti Dzire but minutely lower torque. The current model retails between Rs 7.29 lakh and Rs 10.05 lakh, ex-showroom. The new-gen iteration will certainly bear a premium over these prices. More details will emerge at the launch.
