Indian roads are full of incredibly stupid but influential people, which is a dangerous combination
In a rather shocking incident, a drunk Audi driver ended up hitting 6 cars on the road while being in a state of intoxication. We have seen this transpire on so many occasions. This is particularly true in the last few years where social media has been helpful in spreading the news like wildfire. It is disheartening to see people being so careless about their behaviour which can result in the fatality of unsuspecting road users. Let us delve into the details of this latest case.
Drunk Audi Driver Hits 6 Cars on Road
The specifics of this instance stem from Nikhil Rana on YouTube. The shocking visuals showcase the entire accident courtesy of CCTV footage. This case comes from Bopal-Ambli Road in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. We see a black Audi hit a Tata Nexon from behind on a highway. However, the luxury sedan doesn’t stop there. After hitting the Nexon, it goes on to hit 5 other vehicles on the side of the road. Shockingly, perhaps the driver was still not in control. The vehicle stopped on its own as its momentum was broken after hitting so many cars. The visuals show the driver with his eyes closed and a cigarette in his hand.
As per news reports, the driver was a 41-year-old businessman, Ripal Panchal. He was evidently in an inebriated state. He was arrested by the Police after the incident but released on bail for Rs 15,000. His lawyer claimed that he is a local resident and won’t flee the state. Also, the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate D M Bavishi restrained him from driving any vehicle until a chargesheet was filed against him. Interestingly, he was involved in a similar case in September. He clearly doesn’t care about putting people’s lives in danger due to his rash and negligent driving. We can only hope that the law takes its course and he faces the repercussions of his actions.
My View
It is high time we start taking traffic regulations seriously. We lose lakhs of lives each year in road accidents in India. Most of these incidents take place when the driver refuses to follow the rules. Therefore, it is absolutely critical that we inculcate this habit among upcoming drivers and everyone around us today. That is the only way to make our roads safer than they currently are. Also, you must report the miscreants to the authorities so that appropriate action can be taken against them.
