In this post, we shall acquaint ourselves with the car sales in India in October 2024. Indian automobile market is among the biggest, and fastest growing in the world. That is the reason we see so many new players trying to enter India to grab a chunk of this burgeoning market. After the lockdown and supply chain shortage issues, the industry has bounced back strongly, posting healthy numbers month after month. While the top 2 players remain constant, the competition thereafter is intense. Let us take a look at the brand-wise car sales in India for the month of October 2024.

Maruti Suzuki
The first company on this list is Maruti Suzuki. It is the largest carmaker in the country and has held that title for the longest time. It is simply mind-boggling to see so many models achieving over 10,000 units in sales. Interestingly, this list is topped by Ertiga, followed by Swift and Brezza. Towards the latter half of the table, we see the likes of Jimny, Ciaz and Invicto. In total, Maruti Suzuki was able to sell a whopping 1,59,591 cars in October 2024. Here is the entire list:

Next up, we have the second-largest car marque in the country, Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL). Even it has held that position since its inception. To cater to a wide range of customers, it offers vehicles in just about every market segment. For the month of October, it sold a decent 55,568 cars. At the top, there is the Creta, followed by Venue and Exter. On the other end of the spectrum, we have the Verna, Tucson and Ioniq 5. The details are:

Then we have the indigenous Mahindra on this list. Mahindra has had incredibly successful in the last few years. It offers compelling SUVs with tons of modern equipment and striking design. On the back of its latest products, Mahindra has been consistently knocking on the doors of Hyundai to overtake it to reach the second spot on this list. In October, it missed that by a whisker as it managed to sell 54,504 cars. Its top-selling SUVs were the Scorpio and XUV700, while it sold Marazzo the least. The model-wise sales are:

Then we have the other Korean on this list. Kia uses the same powertrains as Hyundai but differs in the level of premium quotient. In essence, it is an ideal brand which excels in the philosophy of affordable luxury. Kia only sells 5 models in our market. Leading the charge is the Sonet compact SUV with close to 10,000 sales while the premium electric crossover EV6 is understandably the last car on this list. In total, it managed to sell a healthy 22,753 units in October 2024. The breakdown is as follows:

MG Motor
MG Motor India has been on an EV spree in our market with numerous models and an attractive pricing strategy with the industry-first Baas (Battery-as-a-Service).
