Skoda Kodiaq will be the flagship SUV from the Czech car marque in India once it launches here
In this post, we get to experience what the British automobile media thinks of the new-gen Skoda Kodiaq which will launch in India soon. Kodiaq has been a niche product in the Indian automobile market over the years. Still, it used to be a great choice for those who wanted something more premium than mass-market SUVs and not as pricey as the premium high-end luxury SUVs. However, in the last couple of years, Skoda has been importing its flagship models to India which has taken the prices at par with the German rivals. As a consequence, even the Kodiaq will fall in that same category.
India-Bound New-Gen Skoda Kodiaq
The review comes from carwow on YouTube. The famous automobile journalist has the new 7-seat Skoda Kodiaq with him. He likes the overall design of the SUV. At the front, it gets the familiar design language with that butterfly grille with chrome frame, sleek LED headlamps with fog lamp/cornering lamp below it and a massive bumper with radiator grille. On the sides, there are prominent wheel arches with squarish elements and matte black claddings, large 18-inch alloy wheels (optional 20-inch), black side pillars, side skirtings, faux roof rails, and a large wheelbase. At the rear, it boasts a shark fin antenna, connected LED taillamp, a rugged component on the bumper and a roof-integrated spoiler. Overall, the SUV bears the typical understated appearance.
Interior and Features
On the inside, the cabin of the flagship Skoda SUV uses soft-touch materials with a large free-standing touchscreen infotainment display, a virtual cockpit driver’s instrument cluster, a two-spoke steering wheel with multimedia controls, premium audio system, dual glovebox, dual wireless smartphone chargers, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, rotary dials for HVAC, comfortable seats, gearbox shifter on the steering column, USB chargers, rear AC vents and USB ports, sliding and reclining rear seats, rear armrest with cup holders, large boot space, ambient lighting, and much more. It is a feature-laden vehicle which is great for the owners.
Specs
For the international markets, there are many powertrain options to choose from including petrol, petrol hybrid, diesel and diesel 4×4. The power output ranges from 150 hp to 204 hp. With the plug-in hybrid configuration, the SUV can be driven on pure electric power for 62 miles (100 km). There is no option for a manual transmission. The powerful engine propels a decent 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 8 seconds. It will be interesting to see which engine-transmission option will make it to India. Overall, the car reviewer likes the driving dynamics of this vehicle.
