Maruti Suzuki has been particularly focused on the safety prowess of its latest cars which is extremely important in this day and age
The new generation Maruti Dzire has been revealed in India and the official launch will take place on November 11. That is when we will get to know the prices too. However, car experts and potential customers have been talking about the all-new design of the Dzire. This is the first time in its history that it bears a complete departure from either the latest-gen Swift or the previous-gen Dzire. This time around, its exterior lends it a unique and individual appeal. Similarly, the largest car marque in India has equipped it with tons of the latest safety features. But how safe is it in reality?
New Generation Maruti Dzire
Note that the 4th generation Maruti Dzire comes with tons of modern safety amenities. Maruti certainly wants to enhance its image in this department going forward. Hence, it offers things like 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability program, hill-hold assist, and a segment-first 360-degree camera. All these safety equipment points towards a decent performance on the NCAP testing. Remember that the Grand Vitara was also tested at the NCAP and the images were leaked recently. However, we are yet to know the result. Going by the images, it looks like the mid-size SUV might bag healthy ratings. Clearly, Maruti Suzuki’s focus on safety with its new cars is evident. Hence, we can expect something similar with the Dzire as well.
Under the hood of the new generation Maruti Dzire, we will see the same engine as the latest Swift. This means a new 1.2-litre 3-cylinder Z12E naturally aspirated petrol engine with mild hybrid technology which produces a decent 82 PS and 112 Nm of peak power and torque. One can choose between the 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. In Swift, the mileage figures are 24.8 km/l with the manual and 25.75 km/l with the AMT. Additionally, the Dzire will also be available with a CNG mill. In that case, the power and torque figures will drop to 70 PS and 102 Nm, respectively. It will pair with a sole 5-speed manual transmission and the mileage will be an impressive 33.73 km/kg.

My View
We know that modern-age car buyers are particular about the safety ratings of their cars. In fact, that has become one of the key reasons before deciding which car to purchase. Therefore, Maruti Suzuki is working to improve its image in this regard. Its current breed of vehicles comes with plenty of safety amenities. However, we will still need to wait for the final verdict by the NCAP agency. I reckon the latest Maruti cars will certainly be much better in this regard in comparison to the previous generation models.
