The new Maruti Dzire has finally been revealed and it will go on sale from November 11, 2024
In this post, I am comparing the new Maruti Dzire with the Hyundai Aura in terms of specs, features, design and more. Dzire is an iconic name in the Indian automobile industry. It is among the highest-selling vehicles ever. Having been around since 2008, the latest Dzire is the 4th-generation model. Over the years, the largest car marque in the country has kept updating it from time to time which has retained people’s interest in the compact sedan. Apart from that, it has found application among private individuals, as well as commercial fleet operators. Finally, the availability of multiple powertrains has kept it relevant for all these years. On the other hand, the Hyundai Aura has been a worthy rival to the Dzire for the longest time. Even it has varied mills with private and commercial spaces. Let us take a look at the details here.
New Maruti Dzire vs Hyundai Aura – Exterior Design and Dimensions
The new Maruti Dzire is miles apart from its predecessor when it comes to exterior styling. This time around, the front section contains a massive grille with horizontal elements with a chrome belt integrated between the sleek LED headlamp units. The LED DRLs are also inserted inside the headlamp module. Down below, we get to experience the fog lamps and a sporty bumper. On the sides, the new Dzire boasts 15-inch elegant alloy wheels and a chrome strip around the window frames for that added premium appeal. Finally, the tail section consists of a shark fin antenna, and tri-arrow LED taillamps connected by a thick chrome bar which runs the width of the boot lid. I particularly like the integrated spoiler on the boot. All in all, it is refreshing to see the Dzire in this new guise.
On the other hand, the Hyundai Aura utilizes the same front fascia as the Grand i10 Nios. It is marked by that flowing LED headlamp cluster with a slim black section in the middle. However, the main action is going on in the lower section. It houses striking LED DRLs which double up as fog lamps along with a prominent grille on a sporty bumper. On the sides, the black elements around the window frame ooze sportiness while the stylish alloy wheels accentuate the charm of the side profile. At the rear, it gets a dedicated spoiler on the boot lid with a connected LED taillamp cluster. The rear bumper is contoured, adding to the overall imposing stance. There is barely anything to choose from between the two.

Width | 1,735 | 1,680 |
Height | 1,525 | 1,520 |

Specs Comparison
Next up, let us discuss the powertrains and transmissions on both these vehicles. The new Maruti Dzire borrows the engine and gearbox from the latest Swift. Hence, it draws power from a new 1.2-litre 3-cylinder Z12E naturally aspirated petrol mill which churns out a decent 82 PS and 112 Nm of peak power and torque. Performing the transmission duties is either a 5-speed manual or an AMT automatic transmission option. In Swift, the mileage figures are a whopping 24.8 kmpl with the manual version and 25.75 kmpl with the automatic. We can expect similar numbers on the Dzire too. Note that the Swift is also available with a CNG mill which will also join Dzire’s fleet. That produces 69.75 PS and 101.8 Nm of peak power and torque and will be on offer with a sole 5-speed manual transmission. Hence, buyers will have decent options.
On the other hand, the Hyundai Aura is also a great alternative if you are looking for varied powertrain options. It uses the familiar 1.2-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol mill which produces a cool 83 PS and 113.8 Nm of peak power and torque. Just like the Swift, the Aura offers a choice between a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT. Note that there is also a CNG mill on offer which uses the same engine to output 69 PS and 95.2 Nm of peak power and torque. Again, only a 5-speed manual option can be paired with it. Hence, there is hardly anything to choose from between the two in this regard.
Specs | Maruti Dzire | Hyundai Aura |

My View
Both these are immensely popular monikers in India. We already know that they are fierce rivals. The fact that both these are so compelling makes it great for potential customers. They know that they are getting great products. At present, the new Dzire will definitely bring a lot of excitement with tons of modern-age features, a new powertrain and modern styling elements. However, it remains to be seen how Maruti Suzuki decides to price it. On the other hand, the Hyundai Aura has been the preferred choice among those buyers who just want a feature-rich product with multiple powertrain options. I would like to mention that you can’t go wrong with either of these compact sedans. It is just a matter of personal preference. Still, I would advise our readers to experience these vehicles in the flesh by visiting their nearest dealerships. That will help you make up your mind.
