The new Maruti Dzire has been revealed in our market as we compare it with the Honda Amaze
In this post, I am comparing the new 2025 Maruti Dzire and the Honda Amaze in terms of specs, design, features and more. Dzire is one of the most successful and highest-selling sedans in the country. It has been around for about 14 years now. What defines its success is its wide application among private individuals, as well as commercial fleet operators. Apart from that, it is known for offering incredible mileage and the option of a CNG version. All these factors contributed greatly towards making it one of the most popular compact sedans in the country. On the other hand, the Honda Amaze is its direct rival. It has also been decently successful in our market. Interestingly, we are about to receive a facelift model of the Amaze too. For now, let us take a look at the details of these two vehicles.
New 2025 Maruti Dzire vs Honda Amaze – Price
We know that India is a price conscious market. Hence, that could play a deciding role for a whole bunch of potential customers. The new Maruti Dzire retails between Rs 6.79 lakh for the base LXi manual and Rs 10.14 lakh, ex-showroom for the ZXi AGS trim. On the other hand, the Honda Amaze can be yours with a price range starting from Rs 7.20 lakh and going all the way up to Rs 9.96 lakh. Hence, the Dzire has an advantage in the lower half while the Amaze beats it at the top. Having said that, the new Amaze is about to launch in our market. That will take these prices even higher.

New 2025 Maruti Dzire vs Honda Amaze – Design and Dimensions
Let us start with the new 2025 Maruti Dzire. The new model has been showcase by Maruti Suzuki and it will go on sale from November 11, 2024. Therefore, we know exactly what the new Dzire looks like even before the launch. This time around, Maruti Suzuki has done a commendable job to ensure that it has its unique identity separate from the Swift. At the front, we see sleek headlamps with a multi-console layout. There are integrated LED DRLs which stretch out to combine seamlessly with the chrome belt on the grille. Down below, the grille section extends to shape an aggressive front fascia with a sporty bumper and fog lamps on either end. On the sides, the Dzire gets new alloy wheels, black B-pillars and a chrome belt running around the window frame. The tail section contains a shark fin antenna, a thick chrome bar on the bootlid connecting the LED taillamps and a rather subtle bumper. In essence, it bears a notable departure from the outgoing model.
On the other hand, the Honda Amaze has been unchanged for a long time now. Hence, it is due for a facelift too. Still, the current model looks sporty with an imposing front profile. It has a thick chrome slab which defines its character and muscular stance. There are chrome elements on the grille section flanked by prominent projector headlamps on either side. Down below, it highlights a skid plate-type section in the lower part of the bumper with stylish fog lamp housings on either side. On the sides, we get to witness a decent design theme with chrome door handles, a sharp crease on the door panels and elegant 15-inch alloy wheels. Completing the overall aesthetics is the busy tail end with a shark fin antenna, a bootlid lip, C-shaped LED taillamps, and a sporty bumper with blingy elements around the reflector lights.

New 2025 Maruti Dzire vs Honda Amaze – Specs
The new 2025 Maruti Dzire will borrow the powertrain with the new Swift. Hence, it will get a new 1.2-litre 3-cylinder Z12E naturally aspirated petrol mill which belts out a healthy 82 PS and 112 Nm of peak power and torque. This engine pairs with either a 5-speed manual or an AMT automatic transmission option. In Swift, this engine is good for a mileage of a jaw-dropping 24.8 kmpl with the manual version and 25.75 kmpl with the automatic transmission. Clearly, even with the Dzire, these figures will remain in this vicinity. At a later stage, we will most likely see the Dzire with a CNG mill too. In Swift, this configuration is good for 69.75 PS and 101.8 Nm of peak power and torque. With a sole 5-speed gearbox, the company claims a mileage of 26.99 km/kg.
On the other hand, the Honda Amaze draws power from a 1.2-litre 4-cylinder petrol mill which generates a decent 90 PS of power and 110 Nm of torque. Performing the transmission duties is either a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox. With the manual trim, the mileage is around 18.6 km/l, while with the CVT, it ranges in the proximity of 18.3 km/l. Clearly, the Dzire has an edge in this regard. Apart from that, the Amaze has a boot capacity of 420 litres.

My View
I understand that choosing between these two compelling propositions can be quite tough. However, you must know that you can’t really go wrong with either of these. On the one hand, we have the famed Maruti Dzire. It has been the segment leader since time immemorial. In the latest avatar, it has become even more enticing with a 5-star safety rating at the Global NCAP along with tons of new-age amenities, while offering class-leading mileage figures. On the other hand, the Honda Amaze has been able to stand its own ground all these years. Even it is popular among commercial fleet operators. A comparison with the new 3rd-generation Amaze will make more sense.
