Mahindra has commenced the deliveries of the Thar Roxx for only about 2 weeks and it is only available in the used car market
A mere 2-day-old Mahindra Thar Roxx is on sale in the used car market. Roxx, for the unversed, is the 5-door iteration of the regular Thar. Thar is an iconic name in the Indian automobile industry. It has been the go-to product for a whole bunch of off-roading enthusiasts in the country for years now. Since the 3-door model was strictly a hardcore adventure seeker, the Thar Roxx caters to those who want practicality without compromising on the off-tarmac capabilities. The approach has paid well for the Indian auto giant as it bagged a cool 1.76 lakh bookings within the first hour.
Mahindra Thar Roxx in Used Car Market
The specifics of this instance stem from royalcarsclub.delhi on Instagram. The visuals capture the white off-roading SUV parked in what looks like a showroom. However, the main point of attraction is the text on the visuals. It confirms that the SUV is 2 days old and is on sale for Rs 10.90 lakh. Digging deeper, I was able to establish that this is the down payment. In fact, every post that this handle publishes on its profile displays just the down payment amount. Therefore, it is unclear what the actual price will be. In any case, we can expect a bit of a premium over the regular prices since buyers will get to bypass the long waiting periods.
The Mahindra Thar Roxx is available in two powertrain options – a 2.0-litre mStallion turbo petrol mill OR a 2.2-litre mHawk turbo diesel engine. The former produces a respectable 162 PS (MT) / 330 Nm to 177 PS (AT) / 380 Nm, while the latter generates a healthy 163 PS (MT) / 330 Nm and 175 PS / 370 Nm (AT) of peak power and torque, respectively. Performing the transmission duties is either a 6-speed manual or an automatic gearbox. Currently, the 4×4 option is available only with the higher diesel trims. The prices range from Rs 12.99 lakh to Rs 22.49 lakh, ex-showroom.

My View
In the last few years, we have seen a massive boom in the used car industry in India. The need for personal mobility is at an all-time high. People want their personal vehicles. Since not everyone is capable of going for a new car, or people want a larger car without having to spend an exorbitant amount of money, used cars serve as a perfect solution. However, in recent times, we have also seen that this route is being explored by some affluent people who want to beat the long waiting times on popular cars. They are even ready to pay a premium for that. It looks like this case belongs to that category.
