The Jimny is one of the most excessively modified off-roading SUVs in the world
This Maruti Suzuki Jimny 6×6 certainly looks like an off-tarmac monster. Jimny is among the most well-known and successful products across many international markets. It has been around for over 5 decades. In its current avatar in India, we have it in a 5-door guise. The Jimny gets this layout for the first time in its lifetime. The aim is to enhance the practicality for the buyers. However, the one I am about to highlight has a 3-door configuration. It is from somewhere outside India. This car shop specializes in Jimny modifications. Let us take a look at the details here.
Maruti Suzuki Jimny 6×6
The specifics of this case stem from jimnyhead on Instagram. At first glance, I am able to deduce that the tail section has been extended out quite significantly. It is clear that an extra cargo bed has been added to a full-size 3-door Jimny. That has led to enough space to mount another axle, making it a 6×6. I specifically like the pronounced wheel arches on the fenders to accommodate the tyres. The compact cargo bed gets black iron rods to secure any luggage you might put in. Also, the boot has been designed quite nicely in terms of aesthetics. All in all, the vehicle gets an imposing road presence and a hardcore demeanour.
Under the hood of the butch SUV, you will find a familiar 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine which produces a cool 103 PS and 134 Nm of peak power and torque. This engine pairs with a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The lightweight off-roader gets Suzuki’s trademark ALLGRIP PRO 4×4 drivetrain. This is what allows owners to take it to just about any terrain. Boosting its off-roading prowess are favourable approach, breakover and departure angles along with high ground clearance. It currently ranges between Rs 12.74 lakh and Rs 14.95 lakh, ex-showroom.

My View
I appreciate the creativity and innovation among aftermarket car modification houses. People approach them for all sorts of reasons to make their vehicles look unique. However, I would not advise our readers to perform such heavy mechanical alterations to their vehicles. We must understand that car marques do extensive R&D before making any mechanical change to a car. Aftermarket car shops simply don’t have enough resources to do rigorous testing. Hence, issues can crop up in the long run. Not to mention, most exterior and mechanical car modifications are illegal in India.
