Tug of war is a method car reviewers often use to compare the raw pulling power of two vehicles
This classic tug of war between the futuristic Hummer EV and the original Hummer H1 is mighty exciting. Hummer is an iconic name in the world of hardcore off-roading SUVs. In fact, the very purpose of its inception was to aid the war efforts of the USA during the early 1980s. Subsequently, it was made available to the general public as this go-anywhere abuse-friendly brick of an SUV. Its strength lay in its indestructible build. From then on, celebrities have loved it and we even have the futuristic electric iteration of the legendary SUV today. For now, let us compare the performances of the two SUVs from different eras.
Hummer EV vs OG Hummer H1 – Tug of War
The specifics of this competition stem from Donut on YouTube. The hosts have the two iterations of the popular SUV from different times. Initially, they put the two through off-roading tests including driving on treacherous terrains with steep descents and ascents. Both these were able to just destroy all the obstacles in their paths. That is a testament to their immense off-tarmac capabilities. However, in the final phase, the two were pitted against one another in a tug of war. In the first attempt, both drivers accelerated hard and the Hummer EV was barely able to pull the original Hummer. For the second round, they engaged the front and rear differentials. This time around, no one was able to pull the other. It was, essentially, a tie.
Specs Comparison
The differences between the powertrains of these two vehicles are huge. The original Hummer H1 has a colossal 6.6-litre turbo diesel mill which churns out a healthy 300 hp and 520 lb-ft (705 Nm) of peak power and torque. Performing transmission duties is a 5-speed automatic Allison M74 gearbox sending power to all four wheels. On the other hand, the Hummer EV has a 205 kWh battery pack which powers 3 electric motors to produce a whopping 1,000 hp and 1,200 lb-ft (1,627 Nm) of maximum power and torque. Clearly, the Hummer EV is much more powerful.

My View
Tug of war is a common method YouTubers use to test the power of two vehicles. However, I must mention here that they often take a lot of precautions behind the scenes. Hence, I would like to urge our readers to never attempt anything like this in your own vehicles or on public roads. Constantly driving vehicles in this fashion could lead to long-term adverse effects on your car. Let us pledge to be responsible drivers and stick to the traffic protocols.
