Digital artists create unfathomable iterations of regular mass-market cars to give us new perspectives and demonstrate their creativity
A prominent digital artist has come up with a virtual Desert Edition of the Tata Punch. Punch is a mighty successful micro SUV which has been doing extremely well on the sales charts. Its appeal lies in its compact dimensions, butch stance, 5-star NCAP safety rating, exquisite styling and the availability of the latest tech and convenience amenities. However, in this case, we get an opportunity to witness the familiar SUV in a unique avatar that makes it look as rugged as a vehicle prepared for the challenging Dakar Rally! Here are the details.
Tata Punch Desert Edition
The specifics of this digital illustration stem from Keldoran on YouTube. This 3D animation has been created so well that it looks like a real-life model. It would be safe to say that this Punch is a complete departure from anything that could even remotely make it to production. At the front, we are barely able to recognize the donor model. The entire fascia is rugged with a tall hood and a hood scoop. Apart from that, the raised suspension and the off-roading bumper ensure an aggressive demeanour with an exposed underbelly.
On the sides, the sturdy matte black body claddings, ginormous wheel arches and hardcore off-roading tyres elevate the overall road presence of the SUV. The roof contains Jerry cans and a large compartment to carry sporting equipment around. Interestingly, the spare tyre is mounted on the boot lid along with tons of other equipment. I don’t see the rear bumper at all. Normally, this is done to enhance the departure angle of a car to ensure that the obstacles don’t hit the bumper during treacherous surfaces. All in all, this has to be among the most adventurous iterations of the Tata Punch I have ever come across.
My View
Now I have reported many instances where digital artists have been so enthusiastic about displaying their talent and skills that they alter the very DNA of a regular car. This is certainly one such case. We are barely able to recognize stock elements in this version. Clearly, this is not something that will ever make it to production. Still, it helps the viewers broaden their horizons about what can be done in the digital realm on a car which we see on a daily basis. I wish to bring numerous such cases to our readers in times to come.
