Hyosung, the Korean bike manufacturer has been trying pretty hard for a while to get a grip in the high end bike segments in the country but the pricing of its bikes has played a spoil sport. The company is determined to make inroads in the country and will soon launch the facelifted GT250R sports bike in the country. The 2014 facelifted model has touched down on Indian shores and has been spied at a dealership. And that is not all, the pricing of the bike has leaked and the bookings have begun as well.
The facelifted bike will come with on-road pricing in the range of around Rs 3 lakhs for Mumbai. It borrows design cues heavily from its elder sibling, the GT650R and you can easily mistake it for its elder sibling at the first glance. Talking about the changes, they are purely cosmetic and there are no mechanical changes on the bike. It gets a revised headlamp unit alongside a revised front fairing which make the bike look a lot like the GT650R. For the prospective owners of the GT250R, it may be a good thing but we can’t really say the same for owners of the GT650R.
It gets a new set of body graphics as well alongside revised colour options. What distinctively separates the two siblings is the rear. The GT250R features a white metallic finish at the rear while the GT650R has a matte black finish. Doing duty in the bike is a 249 cc V-Twin 4-stroke motor that has a maximum power output of 28 BHP and a peak torque of 22.7 NM available at the twist of a wrist.
Hyosung has been expanding its dealership network in the country off late and is coupling it with marketing efforts to increase its sales and reach in the market. It recently launched the Aquila 250 in the country and will launch the naked version of the GT250R, the GD250N in the current year as well. The GT250R is expected to be launched in the month of April itself. Let us see which way fortune takes the bike which has to lock horns with the Ninja 300.
