This is already the third prominent case within a month where a luxury car owner was responsible for a fatal crash.
This is the latest incident involving a luxury car, BMW iX, in a fatal crash. I have been reporting about such unfortunate cases for a while now. It seems like there is just no end to tragic incidents on Indian roads. The nation was shaken up by a fatal accident involving a Porsche and two persons on a bike. They were not able to survive the crash. Thereafter, other such cases also emerged within a short span of time. For now, let us glance at the details of this latest case.
BMW Hit-and-Run Crash Kills Biker
The details of this case emerge from Cars For You on YouTube. This time around, a BMW iX was the culprit. Its driver was identified as Kiran Indulkar. As per the information, the speeding electric car hit a certain Vinod Lad on the Abdul Gaffar Khan Road near Worli Sea Link in Mumbai. The 28-year-old Vinod was left stranded on the scene and the BMW driver fled. The locals and onlookers took the man to the nearby hospital. This accident took place on July 20. He underwent treatment for 7 days but couldn’t survive. He worked as a supervisor in a Thane-based firm.
The case was registered against the car driver and he was even arrested. However, he was granted bail and was released from custody. This highlights yet another instance showing how easily influential people can get away with just about anything. India was already enraged with the verdict of the teenager Porsche driver who killed two people almost a month ago. He was handed over the punishment of writing an essay about road safety and doing some volunteering work. I can only hope that it doesn’t happen this time around.
Our View
Indian roads are full of unfortunate cases. Most of them take place due to people not following traffic regulations. Apart from that, spoiled brats of famous personalities are often seen flouting all rules and regulations. What’s worse is that even if they get entangled in precarious judicial proceedings, they are often granted bail within a few hours. That is what hurts me and most Indians the most. I can only hope that everyone is treated equally before the law. Let us keep an eye out for more details in this case.
