The Korean carmaker is about to launch the electric iteration of the Creta mid-size SUV which will be heavily inspired by its ICE counterpart.
The unofficial design sketch of the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV has been devised by a prominent digital artist. These artists have a knack for developing creative renditions of popular cars in the virtual realm. These enticing illustrations are free from physical limitations. As a result, the digital space provides a great blank canvas for these artists to demonstrate their talent, vision and skills. The Creta EV has been in the news for a long time now. The test mule has been spotted on multiple occasions albeit with a heavy camouflage. But this digital artist ventures to take a guess of how the production-spec model could look like.
Hyundai Creta EV Sketch
This post comes from SRK Designs on YouTube. The artist showcases how he created the sketch from scratch. He commences with the basic silhouette to mark the outline of what he wishes to draw. Slowly and steadily, he keeps adding various elements to his sketch to make it look like the actual car. Interestingly, he chooses to go for the version of Creta which was on sale in the international market for a long time. This becomes evident from the parametric grille design and the LED DRLs on either side. Apart from that, the vertical headlamps, broad grille and a sporty bumper elevate its road presence. On the sides, there are roof rails, turn indicators on ORVMs, colossal alloy wheels, and black side pillars. I feel this certainly looks badass and something people would love.
Hyundai Creta EV
Now going by the spy shots of the test mule in recent times, we know that the Hyundai Creta EV will bear a similar styling as the latest ICE Creta on sale in India. Hence, it will have a connected LED DRL setup via an LED light bar on the bonnet, LED headlamps above the bumper, and a rugged skid plate. On the sides, there will be a different set of alloys but the overall silhouette will be identical to the regular Creta. On the inside, the Creta EV will bear the latest tech, convenience and connectivity amenities including some elements from the Ioniq 5. Also, it will get ADAS features to boost the active safety prowess. More details will emerge close to the launch.
In terms of specifications, we are not sure what the Korean giant will offer. Some online reports suggest that it might carry the electric powertrain from the Kona Electric. In that case, we can expect it to have a 45 kWh battery pack with a claimed range of around 450 km. Also, the power and torque figures could be 138 hp and 255 Nm, respectively. We know that Hyundai has announced a partnership with Exide for battery. Hence, we might see something new from this collaboration. Nevertheless, we have to wait for the official announcements to get concrete information.
Our View
The EV space in India is growing rapidly. This has been the case for the last couple of years. At present, the market leader is Tata Motors as it has converted most of its ICE models into EVs. Its Nexon EV has been the highest-selling electric car in the country since its inception. Carmakers like Hyundai would also want to grab a portion of this burgeoning space. It aims to do this by leveraging the unparalleled success of Creta in our market. I believe price point will be a crucial factor in determining the success of the Hyundai Creta EV. Let us keep an eye out for more details as they emerge.
