Fourth-generation Maruti Dzire will share its underpinnings as well as the Z-Series 1.2-litre, 3-cyl petrol motor with the latest Swift. Let’s have a look at all the available details
Barely a few months after the launch of the new Swift, Maruti Suzuki will release the corresponding full model update of the Dzire in August this year. The sub-4-metre offering has already been spied on a handful of occasions. While its aesthetics are yet to come to light, we already know quite a lot about this new car. One of the major highlights will be the switch to the Z-Series 1.2-litre, 3-cyl motor that debuted on the Swift. Another show-stopping feature will the availability of the electric sunroof, a novelty in the segment. There’s certainly enough to talk about. Let me take you through every known detail.
Next-Gen Maruti Dzire – Exterior & Interior
The test mules we’ve seen so far have revealed a fair bit about the design of the new sedan. Of course, the new vehicle will look a fair bit like the latest Swift. The front-end, for instance, will have a similar clamshell hood. But the soft parts won’t be exactly the same. The headlamps will expectedly have a different LED signature, and the bumper could look classier. Even the grille could be a bit more angular, keeping in with that of the outgoing model.
The side profile should resemble the current Dzire for the most part. That said, the spy images have already shown us the new design for the alloy wheels. The rear-end is where the car could be a lot unlike its predecessor. The new-gen Maruti Dzire could get wrap-around taillamps to accentuate the width. Similarly, the bumper could look beefier to round off the beefier appearance. We’re yet to get a glimpse of the interior but the new Swift gives us a fair idea of the sedan-derivative’s cabin. The biggest highlight will be the addition of a single-pane sunroof on the top variant. Also, like the hatchback sibling, the sub-4-metre sedan will have a bigger infotainment panel on the higher variants. We even expect other novelties like a 360-degree camera.

Specifications & Mileage
The Dzire will continue to be underpinned by the lightweight HEARTECT platform. A big change in the technical department will be courtesy the new Z-Series motor that will replace the K-Series mill. The former is a 3-cylinder unit with optimized fuel efficiency. Compared to the Dual-jet VVTI K-Series motor, the new triple-potter belts out a lower power (82 PS) and torque (112 Nm) on the Swift. But the slightly higher weight of the compact sedan might push the carmaker to re-tune motor for better performance figures. If the stellar fuel mileage figures of the new Swift are anything to go by, we expect the new-gen 2024 Maruti Dzire to offer up to 25 km/l.
2024 Maruti Dzire | Expected Specs |
Engine | 1.2-litre 3-cyl Z Series Petrol |
Power | 82 PS |
Torque | 112 Nm |
Transmission | 5MT / AMT |
Mileage | 25 kmpl (AMT) / 24.5 kmpl (MT) |
Our View
Much like its donor hatchback, the new-gen 2024 Maruti Dzire will probably offer higher comfort levels and more features than its predecessor. This, especially bits like the electric sunroof, should work well to elevate the appeal of the new car. But let’s not forget that even the arch-rival Honda Amaze will soon get a generation change. Based on the old City’s platform, the next generation of Dzire’s chief adversary could become a strong opponent. Well, we surely have some interesting times ahead for the C1-segment car buyers.
