The Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 is the latest launch in the lineup of the Indian two-wheeler manufacturer. It took place in Barcelona, Spain, where the Indian prices were also announced.

RE Guerrilla 450
The RE Guerrilla 450 comes with the same engine as the Himalayan 450, albeit with slight tweaks to make the low-end stronger. It gets a 452cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder DOHC 4-valve Sherpa engine which produces a decent 40.02 PS @8,000 RPM and 40 Nm @5,500 RPM of peak power and torque. This engine pairs with a 6-speed transmission with a wet multi-plate and slip-and-assist clutch. Apart from that, there is a ride-by-wire technology and a 42 mm throttle body. It uses a steel tubular frame using the engine as a stressed member. There is a 43 mm telescopic fork at the front with 140 mm travel and a linkage-type mono-shock at the rear with 150 mm wheel travel.
The bike gets a ground clearance of 169 mm and a seat height of 780 mm. Furthermore, the bike weighs a decent 185 kg and the fuel tank capacity is 11 litres. The dimensions are 2,090 mm (L), 833 mm (W), and 1,125 mm (H) without mirrors and the wheelbase is a liberal 1,440 mm. Apart from that, the bike gets 17-inch alloy wheels with a broad 120-section tyre at the front and an even broader 160-section tyre at the rear. The transmission duties are carried out by a 6-speed transmission with a wet multi-plate and slip-and-assist clutch. It gets a ride-by-wire technology and a 42 mm throttle body. It is underpinned by a steel, twin-spar tubular frame with a 43 mm USD cartridge tyre fork at the front with 200 mm of travel and a linkage tyre monoshock at the rear with 200 mm of travel. There is a 21-inch wheel at the front with a 90-section tyre and a 17-inch wheel at the rear with a 140-section tyre.
The bike gets a 320 mm ventilated disc at the front with a double-piston caliper and a 270 mm ventilated disc at the rear with a single-piston caliper. The main difference from the Guerrilla is the fuel tank capacity of 17 litres. Apart from that, the motorcycle weighs 196 kg (kerb weight) and has a ground clearance of 230 mm. The dimensions are 2,245 mm (L), 852 mm (W), 1,316 mm (H) and has a wheelbase of 1,510 mm. Riders could use a seat height of 805 mm or 825 mm.

On the other hand, the RE Himalayan 450 also has an all-electric lighting setup, a larger fuel tank, a split-seat setup, high mirrors, a slim but solid rear section, a rear rack with top box mounting, an intake air box under the fuel tank, tyre hugger, spoked wheels and more. All in all, these are distinct motorcycles and offer individual characteristics to attract specific kinds of buyers.
Our View
At first glance, it might look like it is difficult to choose one product out of these two immensely capable motorcycles. However, the fact remains that these two have clear distinctions in terms of application and usage. On the one hand, the RE Himalayan 450 is a dedicated off-roading machine. Its parameters are designed to ensure that the owner can take it across all sorts of terrains without breaking a sweat. In fact, it is the most popular off-roading bike in the country. On the other hand, the RE Guerrilla 450 is a proper roadster with an appropriate physique and road presence. People would mostly take it out on the highway for long journeys. Also, it is the more affordable of the two. Hence, it will have a completely different user base. In any case, the choice between these two depends on what you intend to do mostly. In any case, you can’t go wrong with either of these.
