Jaguar cars have always been known for the class apart looks and performance they offered. The brand has been growing ever since its takeover by Indian conglomerate Tata and their cars have been praised for their styling, features and performance. The company has been facing the heat off late from the launch of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, the all new Audi A8 and the BMW 7-Series as its XJ sedan has not got itself a refresh in a while. Nonetheless, the company intends on launching a mildly facelifted version of the luxury sedan later this year, the 2015 Jaguar XJ facelift. The car has been spied testing, alongside the current model in some cases, and from the looks of thigs Jaguar is only making some minor modifications to the 2015 XJ.
The 2015 Jaguar XJ will be the first makeover the car receives after the current model was launched in 2010. Changes made to the new XJ include: clear turn indicators and the redesigned air dam up front, lower rear bumper and new oval tail-pipes. The striking headlamps and tail lights remain unchanged, and so does the profile of the car. It is expected that Jaguar will launch a whole new model, which will include a long wheelbase version, to take on the competition soon.
The front bumper gets tweaked a bit as well alongside a revised grille. The test mule had a little amount of camouflage but we do not expect something extra-ordinary to pop up once that is removed. Interiors are where the British intend on giving the XJ a decent revision with an all new infotainment system and ambient lighting. It is expected to get the same engine options as the current unit and there will be pretty much no revision in that regard.
The 2015 Jaguar XJ is expected to be announced at one of the upcoming auto shows later this year. Since we Indians get the car via the CBU route, we can expect it to touch base in India as well after the global launch once the old stocks are cleared out. Jaguar has some really aggressive plans for the next 2 years in the form of introduction of an entry level luxury sedan XE, next generation XF sedan and a crossover based on the C-X17 concept. The facelifted XJ sedan will further add to the list of new models from the company. And just in case you were wondering what would its price be, expect it to be a shade under Rs 2 crores.
