A prominent automobile expert finally reviewed the wildly popular Mahindra Bujji. This special vehicle has been dominating the internet in the last few weeks. For the uninitiated, Bujji is a special vehicle made just for the upcoming movie, Kalki 2898 AD. It is set in a dystopian future which is where the need for a unique monstrous vehicle like the Mahindra Bujji emerged. In the last few days, we have spotted it out on the roads towering over large SUVs. This monstrous truck is the consequence of top-notch engineering from Mahindra in collaboration with Jayem Automotives of Coimbatore. Let us take a look at the details here.
Mahindra Bujji Review
This review comes to us courtesy of a YouTube video. The expert is with the legendary Mahindra Bujji. She takes the viewers around this monstrous vehicle. The first thing one notices is the colossal 34.5-inch hubless wheels. The tyres have been specifically constructed for this car by CEAT. Furthermore, the rims consist of aluminium alloy and imported materials. At the front, the suspension is independently sprung using swingarms. It weighs a jaw-dropping 1 ton. Talking about the weight, the entire vehicle tips the scales at a whopping 6 tons. The 6m-long Bujji has an aluminium rear section which is where the battery is located. Yes, this is an EV.
Another intriguing aspect is the custom-made rear suspension from coil springs and dampers to support the rear axle which weighs 3 tons. The ground clearance is a rather subtle 180 mm. Once she gets to drive this monster, she is simply blown away. The two electric motors from Kirloskar produce 94 kW (126 hp) and a ginormous 9,800 Nm of peak power and torque. These motors derive power from a 47 kWh battery pack. The rear-wheel-driven is relatively easy to manoeuvre using an electro-hydraulic steering. Note that she mentions that this version of the Bujji feels like a prototype. All in all, this is an impressive piece of engineering marvel.
Our View
This has to be among the coolest examples of Indian engineering I have come across in a long time in the automobile department. We often see such creations in Hollywood for blockbuster movies. This must be the first time we are witnessing something like this just for an Indian movie. In fact, we are already witnessing the impact it has on viewers from across the nation by looking at the response on social media platforms. I can only hope to drive something like this one day.
