The bodyshell was rated as unstable and it was not capable of withstanding further loadings. Similarly, the footwell area was rated as unstable. As standard, the vehicle had a Seatbelt Reminder for driver and passenger and ABS. All these factors culminated in the Tata Tiago being a 4-star safety-rated vehicle.

Child Occupant Protection (COP)
In the COP section, the Tiago was put through similar tests as in the AOP segment. However, in the COP category, an 18-month-old and 3-year-old child dummy were placed in the rear seat of the vehicle. The impact of the crash on these dummies was recorded. The seat for the 3-year-old was installed forward facing which was able to prevent excessive forward movement at the time of the impact. The 18-month-old child dummy was installed using the adult belt facing rearward.
The protection for the 18-month-old dummy was good. The recommended Child Restraint System did not show incompatibility.
