The Toyota Innova Hycross safety rating is not out yet but we take a look at the details of the kind of safety equipment on offer. Innova is an iconic name in the Indian automobile industry. The Innova MPV has been on sale in our market since 2005. It is fascinating to know that there has not been any worthy rival to the Innova in the last 19 years. Its demand is still at an all-time high. In order to leverage the popularity of the Innova moniker, the Japanese auto giant decided to launch an SUV based on the Innova. That is how the Innova Hycross came into existence in 2022. It has been doing decently well on the monthly sales charts. Hence, we would like to discuss the safety amenities on offer on the Toyota Innova Hycross.
Toyota Innova Hycross Safety Rating
Now, the Toyota Innova Hycross safety rating is not available since it has not been crash-tested by NCAP just yet. I expect it to undergo a safety test at Bharat NCAP in due course of time. However, we know that the Hycross is based on the TNGA platform. It is a trademark architecture for the Japanese carmaker on which many cars are built. In India, the Toyota Camry also uses the same platform. What’s even more important is that the Camry has already been tested at the ANCAP and ASEAN NCAP. In both these tests, the latest 2023 model received a full 5-star rating. This includes 5 stars each in the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and Child Occupant Protection (COP) categories.
In the AOP category, the Camry scored a decent 35.31 points out of a maximum of 36. This was the consequence of the frontal-offset crash test. Additionally, the body shell of the vehicle was rated as stable and the doors remained closed on impact. Also, the driver’s and passenger’s head, chest and legs were well protected. On the other hand, in the COP, the Camry secured a decent 44.44 points out of 49. It comes with ISOFIX child seat mounts. The crash test was performed by placing an 18-month-old and a 3-year-old dummy in the rear seat. In both these categories, the vehicle performed well. Now, while the Camry is a completely different vehicle from the Innova Hycross, we can expect some of its characteristics to come attached to the platform.

Our View
Toyota Innova Hycross safety rating is something everyone’s been waiting to know. While it has not been tested yet, the signs look positive. Going by the platform and cars based on that, it makes sense to assume that the Hycross will bring in decent ratings. Still, until that transpires, we can’t say anything for sure. Therefore, I shall keep an eye out for when the SUV is tested by the Bharat NCAP in times to come.
