In a rather shocking turn of events, a Kia Seltos owner is seen misusing ADAS of the SUV. Unfortunately, this is not the first time, I have reported people abusing the ADAS feature. There are plenty of such instances on the internet where Mahindra XUV700 owners perform questionable activities while leaving the SUV to drive on its own. ADAS stands for Advanced Driver Assistance System. It offers functions which could intervene in emergency situations to save the lives of the passengers. However, the cases of people misusing it are on the rise.
Kia Seltos User Abuses ADAS
This post comes from cars.of_india and car_universe_yt on Instagram. It captures the astounding visuals of the sheer stupidity on display by the Kia Seltos driver. He is driving in the middle of the road. Suddenly, he jumps out of the driver’s seat and gets to the rear seat while the SUV is still in motion. His co-driver is recording the video of the entire incident. They are clearly doing this to post on social media. That is the worst part. People are willing to endanger their own lives, and the lives of everyone else around them just for some views.
What makes matters worse is the fact that they are performing this idiotic act on a normal road. It is not even a properly marked expressway. That is totally lunatic since ADAS works only by reading the lane markings. Without these, the vehicle won’t be able to self-steer. Hence, this is an open invitation to disaster. We are not sure what would’ve happened as the video ends abruptly. But we see a car arriving from the opposite lane which is when the passenger at the rear asks the driver to get back into his seat.
Kia Seltos
Kia Seltos come with tons of modern amenities in its latest iteration. What is the most fascinating addition is the availability of Level 2 ADAS functions. These aid the driver in everyday scenarios with things like Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Change Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring, 360-degree Camera, Autonomous Emergency Braking, etc. However, these are not meant to replace the driver. These must strictly be used to make the lives of the drivers easier. At no point should the driver take his/her eyes off the road and hands off the steering wheel. Other prominent features of the latest Seltos include:
- Dual 10.25-inch Panoramic Displays for both Infotainment and the Driverโs Instrument Cluster
- Alexa Home-to-Car Connectivity
- ADAS 2.0 with 17 Advanced Safety Functions
- Voice-controlled Dual-Pane Panoramic Sunroof
- Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- Ventilated Front Seats with 8-way Powered Adjustment
- 8-Speaker Premium Bose Sound System
- Air Purifier
- Kia Connect Tech Features
In terms of the specifications, the Kia Seltos offers multiple powertrain options. There are alternatives to select from a 6-speed manual, an IVT (CVT automatic), a 6-speed iMT (Intelligent Manual Transmission), an Automatic Transmission or a 7-speed DCT automatic transmission.
