The 2014 Fiat Punto facelift has been spied testing in India by a member of the popular forum Team-BHP. Multiple cars is camouflage were seen testing near the Fiat assembly plant in Pune, Maharashtra. This is finally the sign that Fiat is bringing the new Punto to India, everyone has been expecting them to give the Punto a much needed refresh since it’s launch here in 2005. The Grande Punto has received minor alterations like increase in ride height, some new trim etc over the course of its sales in India, but it has not received a major change unlike many other markets around the world. Fiat launched the 2010 Fiat Punto Evo with major cosmetic changes, new engines and new features, the 2012 Fiat Punto dropped the ‘Grande’ and ‘Evo’ badges and gained some new mechanicals and slightly tweaked design; both of these updates failed it to make to India for some weird reason.

A member of The Automotive India forum has spy shots of the upcoming Fiat Punto, in this case the interiors of the car. As you can see, the interiors are similar to the ones found on the Fiat Avventura showcased at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo earlier in February. The interior gets a dual tone finish with black and beige finish. At least some variants will also get steering mounted controls, again the steering is similar to the one on the Punto Avventura.

We are a bit surprised that Fiat has camouflaged these test mules, we know what the car looks like more or less. Will Fiat be bringing in something new in terms of design? We will have to wait and watch. Subscribe to our newsletter for latest updates
What’s New?
Design wise the 2014 Fiat Punto facelift should be an evolution over the present model. The basic profile of the car remains the same, and it is very easily recognisable as the Fiat Punto. The beauty of the redesign lies in the details; the new grille, new headlamps (elements inside the unit have been changed, the unit as such is the same size and shape), front and rear bumpers, tail-lights etc have been redone.
The big changes in terms of design are inside, though still recognisable as the Punto because of the familiar design, the elements have been changed. The centres console, instrument cluster, A/C vents etc. have been redesigned. The all-black interiors look much better than the silver and black interiors of the current model.
We cannot say much about the engine and powertrain as of now as Fiat has not indicated anything about the same. Most probably, Fiat will rework the Multijet and Fire engines on offer for the current codel and offer them on the 2014 Fiat Punto facelift. We wish they do bring in the TwinAir engines on offer internationally.
