Toyota, taking a cue from the Volkswagen Cross Polo, has launched 2014 Toyota Etios Cross in India. Essentially the Etios Liva with some added body cladding, the Etios Cross is an alternative for those who want their car to have the looks of a crossover but do not want to spend a lot on buying a proper one. The Etios Cross, even with the body cladding is about 100mm short of the 4-metre mark, making it eligible for the excise duty benefits that such cars get, meaning that the car would be priced pretty aggressively. Along with the body cladding, upholstery changes on the inside, the Etios Cross will get three engine options, a lot of features and Toyota’s proven reliability.
Price
- Etios Cross G : Rs. 5.76 Lakh
- Etios Cross V : Rs. 7.35 Lakh
- Etios Cross D-4D GD : Rs. 6.90 Lakh
- Etios Cross D-4D VD : Rs. 7. 41 Lakh

What’s New?
Just like the car launched in other markets like Brazil, the 2014 Toyota Etios Cross shares the same underpinnings as the Etios sedan and the Etios Liva hatchback. Compared to the Etios Liva hatchback, the Etios Cross is 3895 mm long (120 mm longer), 1735 mm wide (40 mm wider) and 1555 mm tall (45 mm taller). The wheelbase remains the same at 2460 mm and so does the turning radius at 4.8 metres.
Visually there are a lot of changes made to 2014 Toyota Etios Cross inside-out.

Paint options
The 2014 Toyota Etios Cross gets one new paint option over the Etios Liva hatchback, Inferno Orange. The other paint options include Celestial Black, Classic Grey, Harmony Beige, Symphony Silver, Ultramarine Blue, Vermilion Red and White.
Design
The 2014 Toyota Etios Cross gets a new, more-butch look as compared to the Etios Liva, the company hopes that this will attract more people towards it. Apart from the obvious black plastic cladding all around the car, the Etios Cross gets a silver ‘grille guard’, silver side mouldings on top of the black plastic and silver guards on the front and rear bumper. You also get silver roof rails. The headlamp is different, the indicator is now sifted from the headlamp unit and placed above the fog lamps, you get a new grille which is much bigger and less curvy than the one on the hatchback. The rear-roof spolier is also a new addition to the car. The Etios Cross also gets a black plastic moulding on the bottom of the hatch-door with Etios Cross embossed on it. The last differentiating factor on the outside are the new 15-inch alloy wheel design.
The 2014 Toyota Etios Cross gets all black interiors to go with the sporty theme of the car. The plastic around the centre console, door trimming, over the instrument cluster etc are finished in piano black plastic, while the fabric used on the seats, doors etc. are black. The 3-spoke steering wheel is black with silver inserts, the gear-lever gets the same treatment as well.
