Vardenchi, the Mumbai-based bike customisation company which began its operations back in 2005 has garnered a niche audience for itself in the Indian market. Its customised motorcycles are one of the best ones in the country and now it has joined hands with the Italian bike manufacturer Moto Morini. The high end biking segment in India is thriving and every major premium bike manufacturer wants to become a part of the same. Thus Moto Morini India is born, and it will be launching two of its flagship motorcycles at the 2014 Auto Expo.
Vardenchi will import the motorcycles and will set up the dealerships and service centres for Moto Morini. The two bikes which are going to be launched will be the adventurer Gran Passo and dual-purpose Scrambler. Moto Morini will bring in the bikes to India via the CBU rout at first. This will surely increase the prices of the bikes and for a brand like Moto Morini, which is not yet very popular in India, it might just get a bit difficult.
Coming to the Scrambler, the bike will be an all terrain street fighter bike with similar capabilities off the road as well as on the road. A Bialbero CorsaCorta 1187-cc twin-cylinder engine which is designed by Franco Lambertini takes charge of propelling the bike courtesy of the 118 BHP of maximum power and 102 NM of peak torque on offer.
The Gran Passo will come shod with a 1187cc V-Twin oversquare motor under the hood. It will be churning out 118 BHP of maximum power and a peak torque of 103 NM to go with it. It gets dual Brembo brakes to facilitate braking. Since the company is targeting tourer cum adventurers with it, it has given it a pretty well cushioned seat and an extra large windshield which complete the adventurer look of the motorcycle. Suspension duties are being taken care of by Marzocchi upside down forks up front and at the rear you get Ohlin side mounted monoshock.
The partnership with Vardenchi might result in some customisation to these as well at later stages. We’ll update you with their prices as soon as the company announces them.
