In rather shocking news, the waiting period for the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder E MT 2WD (base model) is an unbelievable 84 months (7 years). This post is going viral on the Internet. Keep in mind, that Hyryder serves as Toyota’s counterpart to the Maruti Grand Vitara. This mid-size SUV competes with well-known models such as the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos in our market. It leverages the popularity of the Grand Vitara in order to generate some sales. But having such extreme waiting periods can be detrimental to that. Let us take a look here.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder Waiting Period
This information stems from yash9w on Instagram. The man is at a Toyota dealership. He watches the board inside the showroom on which the waiting times for various variants are listed. While most trims are available at relatively normal waiting periods, the E MT 2WD shows a waiting time of 84 months. That is simply astonishing. Now, we can’t pinpoint the exact reason for this. In all honesty, it makes no sense to have a 7-year-long waiting period on any car. That is what leads us to believe that perhaps, this is just a polite way of saying that this model will not be available on sale at all for some reason.

We would like to make it clear that this might not be the situation at every dealer. But still, to see something like this is really bizarre. Even the luxury international models don’t have this kind of waiting period. You might remember that the Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 boasted a waiting period of 4 years when it was launched a couple of years ago. But that is a premium vehicle which caters to prominent personalities from across the globe. However, a vehicle like the Hyryder is a mass-market product. Hence, such waiting time numbers are unprecedented.
