Honda is trying to make the maximum out of all avenues possible it can in India. Its mid-size segment sedan, the 2014 Honda City has already ramped up upwards of 9,000 bookings and its compact sedan offering, the Amaze is clocking sales of around 6,000 units a month. Now in a bid further dent the sales of the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, which is its arch rival, the company has launched the new Honda Amaze SX variant.
Price
It has been priced at Rs 6.23 Lakh for the petrol variant and the diesel guise will set you back by Rs 7.22 Lakh. Both these figures are ex-showroom, Delhi figures. The SX variant sits between the mid-level S and top of the line VX variant. In addition to the features of the S variant, it gets ABS, EBD and dual-front airbags.
ABS and EBD have been standard on all diesel variants so it is basically the petrol variant which gets more additional equipment than the diesel one. The Amaze currently comes in 4 trims and the addition of the SX variant makes the total number of variants go up to 5. The Amaze is powered by a 1.2 litre i-VTEC petrol motor that is good enough for 88 BHP of maximum power and a peak torque of 110 NM. The diesel powerplant is a 1.5 litre i-DTEC unit which has a power output of 100 BHP and a peak torque of 200 NM. The same has been rated as the most fuel efficient engine in India and delivers 25.8 KMPL. It gives a mileage of more than 26 KMPL in the latest generation Honda City.

Before the introduction of the Honda Amaze SX variant, there was a huge price difference of almost Rs 1 lakh between the S and VX variants which made people go in more for the S variant than the VX variant. But with the introduction of the SX variant, Honda has managed to fill that gap and offer its customers with more options. The total number of variants on offer now stands at 12.
