The Chevrolet Sail facelift has been showcased in China. Though the basic silhouette of the car has not changed, the styling on a whole has definitely changed. The Chevrolet Sail sold in India is not a bad looking car, but compared to its competition, it is pretty plain. The refresh will address this issue to an extent.
Changes made to the car include bigger redesigned headlamps, Chevrolet’s ‘two-port’ grille, new front bumper design, slightly redesigned doors, new ORVMs, new tail-lamps, a new boot design with integrated lip and re-positioned number plate holder.

A previous spy shot of the interior of the car also points to the fact that the new Sail will feature better interiors as compared to the old model. The interiors of the Sail sedan were a big let-down and the facelift is expected to rectify that problem. Check out the spy shot below.\

Chevrolet Sail Sedan facelift has been in the reckoning for some time now, and the company plans to launch it in India sometime in 2014. There are some new images of a camouflaged Chevrolet car which looks pretty much like the new Sail. The images which were clicked somewhere in China confirm that the refreshed car is underway in the very near future. The car is one of the key offerings in the company’s lineup in China and the company will be bringing in the facelift later this year to keep the buzz going. However, looking at these pictures we don’t expect any grand changes to the existing model. There is a minute touch-up work on the headlights and taillights. However, we do not see any change coming on bumpers or radiator grille. But seeing by the heavy amount of camouflage the car is under, the car might see a slew of cosmetic changes.
The spies did report that the car had new better looking interiors though. The most prominent one is a polished steering wheel. While the present Chevrolet Sail sedan has a ’3D’ beige colored wheel, the camouflaged prototype has got a black colored wheel with contoured elements which is similar to the Chevrolet Cruze, thus adding to the premium-ness of the car. There is no confirmation whether the car will have any significant update to its ongoing engine. However, modest estimates are that the new Sail sedan for China may use a 1.5-litress instead of the current options of a 1.2 and 1.4-litre engines. However, the Indians will get the same engine options as the current ones in all likelihood.
As far as the Indian scenario is concerned, the Sail Sedan is very well complementing the Sail U-VA hatchback and in the past couple of quarters, the sale for both these has picked up. In the month of November 2013, GM India sold about 3000 Sedans and has got a strong order book of 10,000 units. However, it is yet to restart the production of its diesel variants which was stopped in June 2013 due to some undeclared ‘quality issues’. We are expecting this to start within a couple of months. On the other hand, the petrol variants have not done as expected in India.
