This has to be India’s first registered Ford F-150 which has been spotted in Chennai. Note that we have reported previously that someone in India brought the Ford Raptor here using the Carnet ATA permit. It is, essentially, a passport for the vehicles. People can take cars across partner nations without paying the exorbitant import duties for a duration of one year. As a result, we have seen many iconic cars in India from many countries. However, this latest one looks like it bears an Indian numberplate.

Specs
In the U.S., the Ford F-150 offers a range of engine choices. These include a 3.3-liter V6 (290 hp / 360 Nm), a 2.7-liter V6 (325 hp / 542 Nm), a 5.0-liter V8 (400 hp / 556 Nm), a 3.5-liter V6 Hybrid (430 hp / 773 Nm), and a 3.5-liter V6 (450 hp / 691 Nm). All these engines are paired with a 10-speed automatic gearbox. The most notable ones come with a 4×4 drivetrain along with many other tough off-roading and towing capabilities. We are not sure which powertrain this particular model is carrying.

Author’s Note
Indians are getting a taste of imported vehicles in recent times. In fact, we have reported many such cases where people have imported cars from the Middle East or driven their vehicles from Canada. Most of these use Carnet ATA permit which reduces all the hassle. But those who want to live here with the imported vehicle, get them registered here. Now, that is an expensive affair since the owner needs to pay the import duties and registration charges. Needless to mention, the aftersales service is something that needs to be thought about as well. In any case, the passion people have for automobiles makes them do all this.
