Toyota India has launched the 2014 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado facelift in India. The 2014 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is only available in one trim level in India as was before, and only offered with a single engine option, a 3.0-litre diesel engine mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission which transfers power though a computer-controlled 4-wheel drive system. The 2014 Toyota Land Cruiser receives an evolutionary facelift as compared to the previous SUV, and in some ways has gone the Innova way (big grille, more chrome).

Design
As we said earlier, the design of the 2014 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is an evolution of the previous SUV than a total overhaul. The front grille becomes elongated just like the Innova, the bumper has been slightly redesigned, the headlight unit now gets LED daytime running lamps and new elements inside, the side panels have not been touched, the elements in the tail-lamp have been fiddled with, the number plate housing has been redesigned and a huge chrome slat has been added on the boot-lid.

- Crawl Control: A system that takes control of the accelerator and brakes in slow-slippery situations where the driver inputs could lead to the SUV going out of control.

- Multi-Terrain Monitor: uses cameras to give you a good view of your surroundings to help maneuver the SUV easily

A few months ago, we had got the glimpse of the 2014 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado SUV at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Then we had thought that it will take considerable time for this car to come to India. However, the Japanese company seems pretty bullish on the Indian market and hence, the vehicle is going to be available in India soon.
The Indian market has anyhow done well in the past for Toyota and the company must be keen on replacing the 2010 variant of the Land Cruiser Prado which desperately needs a facelift. Many in close knowledge of the development have confirmed that the first few units of the car have already arrived at many dealerships across the country and product training for sales and service staff may start very soon.
As far as changes in the facelift car are concerned, you will see a completely re-designed bumper, grille and sharper headlamps. As far as the rear of the car is concerned, there has won’t be any significant change when compared to the outgoing model. In the cabin design, faux wood panelling and a slightly redesigned instrument console will be the only changes.
Do not expect any significant changes in the engine configuration. Hence, the facelift will use the same 3.0-litre diesel engine which generates 170 BHP of maximum power along with 420 Nm torque. This with a five-speed automatic gearbox for power transmission and offers four wheel drive.
Since the car will arrive the country through CBU route, the price is going to be on the higher side. Currently, it is priced about Rs 84.87 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). After this launch, we expect the prices to go up a bit. While the facelift may bring in a few more buyers, its very high price tag keeps many at bay. If the company can start local production of SUV, it will really help it get the prices in the ball park of the Audi Q7 and the likes. The car has always had a cult following and someone who has their heart set on the Land Cruiser Prado would go in for it no matter what.
