Mahindra Thar E and Scorpio N in Digital Realm
This illustration stems from bagrawala_designs on Instagram. In this rendition, the electric SUVs look extremely rugged and tough. On one hand, we have the Thar E. It contains a tall boy and boxy silhouette with a solid bonnet, square headlamps with LED DRLs, a sturdy bumper, high ground clearance and ginormous alloy wheels. On the sides, the square elements ooze an imposing road presence. There are side steps to ease the climb into the cabin. The windshield is quite tiny which informs that this is only a digital rendition and not a production spec practical model.

On the other hand, there is also the Scorpio N parked adjacent to this Thar. In comparison, it retains the overall silhouette of the original model. The scorpion tail around the window frame is evident from these visuals. However, the front section bears a modern appearance. There are colossal C-shaped LED DRLs surrounding the huge headlamp cluster. Looking closely, one can also see the contours on the bonnet which lend it an adventurous appearance. The bumper is quite sturdy while the alloy wheels look monstrous. One can also see the roof spoiler at the rear. All in all, both these renditions offer a unique perspective on the electric iterations.

Specs
The Thar EV could potentially feature four motors, deviating from the usual two-motor configuration found in many electric SUVs with all-wheel drive. There are also speculations indicating the inclusion of advanced capabilities such as crab steering, a feature reminiscent of the Hummer EV. These functionalities empower the SUV to execute a U-turn or a complete 360-degree rotation right on the spot. Additionally, the tires could turn almost 45 degrees, a crucial aspect for parallel parking, especially given the size of the SUV.

Mahindra is contemplating whether to construct the electric Thar using the existing ladder-frame chassis, opt for a single-piece chassis, or develop the Thar EV concept on the INGLO platform—a dedicated platform for electric vehicles. Traditionally, Mahindra favours the robust ladder-frame chassis for its SUVs, ensuring durability, particularly in off-road driving scenarios. However, this choice tends to increase the weight significantly, potentially impacting the efficiency and range of an EV. Further updates will be provided as more details emerge.
