Assamese Tractor Driver Buys Lottery Ticket for Rs 100, Wins Range Rover
Inzamamul Haque is a tractor driver from Barpeta district, Assam. He won a brand new Range Rover in a lottery organized by the Howly Raas Festival celebration committee. In an interview, Inzamamul revealed that he purchased the lottery ticket along with his brother-in-law Saiful Islam. Both of them paid only Rs 100 each for the lottery ticket. While Mr Haque won a Range Rover, his brother-in-law won a Maruti Wagon R which was the 16th prize.

“I was at home when one of my friends shared the list of winning numbers. I cannot tell you how happy I was when I discovered that I had, in fact, won the first prize,” said Inzamamul Haque. “After hearing the news, I could not sleep the entire night. I hoped to win a prize. I am a poor tractor driver, and I thought if I win one, it might change my fortune,” he added. While it is not clear which model of Range Rover will be offered to Mr Haque, it is quite likely the Evoque variant as it is the only one that is priced around Rs 75 lakh in the Range Rover lineup.
The entry-level model comes equipped with two powertrain options – a 2.0-litre petrol and a 2.0-litre diesel engine. The petrol version comes with a 48V mild hybrid system. It offers 247 bhp of maximum power and 365 Nm of peak torque. On the other hand, the 2.0-litre diesel motor outputs 178 bhp of maximum power and 430 Nm of peak torque. For transmission, the sporty-looking SUV comes paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Author’s Note
It is to be noted buying a lottery is not a healthy habit and it can lead to serious addiction. Several individuals have lost a lot of money as they keep buying lotteries in the hope of winning big prizes. However, some people also get lucky. Just like Mr Inzamamul Haque, an auto driver won a massive prize money of Rs 12 crore in 2021. Mr Jaypalan had purchased a lottery ticket for Onam Bumper. While such prices are bound to an increase in the purchase of lottery tickets, one should be careful to not form a habit.
