TVS Motors today launched the male-specific variant of the Wego, christened the TVS Jupiter. With this new scooter, TVS hopes to attract more customers towards its brand, it is the first launch by the company in more than a year.
The company is hyping the fact that this is a large scooter; with more space in the footwell, broader and longer seats and more under-seat space. They are also highlighting the fact that the scooter is loaded with features which provide better comfort, performance and economy. The TVS Jupiter is on sale across TVS dealerships in the country starting today.

In terms of design, the TVS Jupiter is a smart looking scooter, and is based on the TVS Wego. It shares many design elements from the Wego, including the V shaped slits at the front, the mesh grille below the bag hook under the seat, the headlamp unit and in a way the seats too (the elevation difference between the driver and passenger section of the seat in the Jupiter is not as pronounced as it is in the Wego, but the way the front section of the seat is designed is the same). The alloy wheels on the scooter are the same too, just that on the Jupiter they are painted black. At the back the design has been changed, the lights are placed lower and the fuel filler cap position has also been changed. The fuel-filler cap position TVS claims is more convenient, as it does require the rider to get down and open the seat to fill the fuel tank, which in turn stops people nearby from noticing any valuables that may be carried in the underseat storage area. The stop-lamps feature LED bulbs.
The TVS Jupiter is a large scooter (1834 mm long) which has long wheelbase (1275 mm) which helps with seating and storage space. The foot well has enough space to accommodate an LPG cylinder kept horizontally, the company claims (we do not recommend that you ride your scooter like this). It has a large under-seat storage space (17-litres) which can swallow a whole helmet easily. It has fold-able hooks in the foot well, which do not intrude when not needed. The dimensions of the scooter are the same as that of the Wego.
The 110cc engine is powerful and frugal; an intelligent system helps deliver more power or adjust the power delivery and gear ratios to deliver sip less fuel depending on the throttle position and driving style. TVS claims a maximum fuel economy of 67 KMPL.
The telescopic forks at front and gas filled shock absorbers at the rear help make the ride comfortable, while the 90 mm section tubeless tyres and 90mm drum brakes help with the handling. The countoured seats also provide the rider with the ability to handle the scooter better, the ergonomics sort of mimicking motorcycles. The Jupiter has a minimum turning radius of 1910 mm.
Features like the pass-by switch, E-Z centre stand, low-fuel warning and the LED stop lamp are first in class features.
