In the latest spy images, Force Gurkha’s Mercedes G-Wagon-like silhouette is on full display. Note that there are videos of the uncamouflaged version online as well. But the latest images are of the SUV with a cover. The Gurkha is a popular and budget-friendly off-road vehicle in India, rivalling the Mahindra Thar. However, the dynamics of this segment are undergoing a shift with the introduction of the Maruti Jimny. At present, the Gurkha is available in a 3-door configuration, mirroring the Thar. Looking ahead, both these SUVs are set to unveil their 5-door variants to compete with the alluring and impressive Jimny. Let’s explore the specifics of the upcoming long-wheelbase Gurkha model, about to make its way to showrooms shortly.

The source of these spy shots is Sirish Chandran on Facebook. We know that the 5-door Gurkha has been in development for a while now. In fact, the test mules have been spotted for a long time. In these pics, the SUV is wearing a thick camouflage. Still, the silhouette is evidently similar to the iconic G-Wagon. The body appearance, tall stance, square bonnet with turn indicator on the extreme edges, rugged side step to enhance the ingress and egress characteristics, square wheel arches, and tailgate-mounted spare wheel are some elements which resemble the appearance of a G-Wagon. In fact, the overall sturdy nature really comes through in these images.

Author’s Note
The Force Gurkha stands out as the only affordable off-roader capable of competing with the iconic Thar and the new Jimny in terms of capabilities. However, its straightforward interior and somewhat limited features have impacted its sales performance. Despite this, there exists a dedicated community of hardcore off-road enthusiasts who still prefer the Gurkha over the Thar. Introducing a 5-door version would make a lot of sense, providing increased practicality. Currently, the second-row window is fixed, but the upcoming 5-door variant will address this limitation. Moreover, reports suggest that Force has been exploring various SUV models based on the Gurkha platform, including a pickup truck. We eagerly await to see what the future holds in this segment.
