Team of two from Gaadi.com – Bunny Punia and Meghan Naik together broke two mileage records recently on a Renault Scala Diesel 1.5 dCi achieving maximum mileage from a stock (not modified) car on a long run. The team not only broke the records, but did the same with huge margin over previous record.
In the first record, Gaadi.com team achieved an overall mileage of 39.94 KMPL from a Renault Scala on a Bangalore to Mumbai drive started on 6th August 2013 in a Renault Scala diesel and they covered a total distance of 984.59 Km on this drive in 21 hours and 16 minutes. Previous record for the same was held by Autocar India team with 33.4 KMPL mileage on a Ford Fiesta classis.
In second record, Gaadi.com achieved the best mileage from a stock car over its rated mileage. This record was previously held by Major Prabhat Kumar from Kapur on Volkswagen Vento Petrol Automatic in which he squeezed 245.8% of mileage as claimed by manufacturer, while team Gaadi managed to overtake that by extracting 250.26% of the same. This record is awaiting approval to be included in Limca Book of Records’ head office in Gurgaon.
The engine used on Scala is a popular K9K unit from Renault which is used in many popular cars in India including Renault Duster, Scala, Fluence etc. Also its used in many popular Nissan cars like the Micra, Sunny, Evalia and upcoming Teraano to name a few. Its a very versatile engine which can be used in different tune to achieve different power and economy combinations depending on the vehicle.
