Land Rover via parent company Tata Motors wants to get a chunk of the Indian luxury segment and it is aiming to do that by making its products more accessible. Now, the company has quietly launched the Land Rover Freelander 2 S Business edition in the country for Rs. 37.63 lakh. Essentially, it is the Freelander 2 S without some of the fancier features and a new name badge.
The car remains bog similar to the existing one in terms of exterior design, as well as the mechanicals. It is powered by a 2.2-litre, TD4 turbo diesel motor that gets mated to a six-speed automatic transmission which delivers the power to all four wheels of the car. It delivers a maximum power of 148 BHP with the peak torque getting rated at 420 NM. It also comes standard with Land Rover’s terrain response system that provides maximum traction on varying road surfaces.
This is a cut price model and it gets changes in the features department. Here’s a list of the changes that it gets:
- Sunroof and front powered seats have been shown the way out.
- Rear camera and front puddle lamps have been removed.
- Driver and passenger side arm rests have been removed as well.
- The 7-inch touchscreen infotainment unit gets replaced with a smaller 4.2 inch colour display unit with a 6-speaker audio system.
The standard features such as automatic headlights, Xenon lamps, rain sensing wipers and the Terrain response system are the ones which would remain intact. The car locks horns with the likes of the Audi Q3 and BMW X3. With the latest variant of the car joining the ranks, Land Rover will surely see an increase in the sales.
