Strength of Sunroof of Car
This post comes from sainimotorsrohtak on Instagram. It captures a rather bizarre activity. A man is throwing various metallic objects from a height onto the sunroof. This looks scary. He starts by dropping relatively light materials. However, as we go further into the video, he starts to increases the size and weight of the objects. As a matter of fact, at one point in time, he even ends up throwing a hammer and spanner on the glass. These are obviously extremely heavy. In normal circumstances, they will break a glass in a split second. But the sunroof remains intact. Funnily enough, the rear windshield of the car breaks. But the sunroof retains the impact quite convincingly.

Is Sunroof A Necessity?
The sunroof is a highly debatable amenity in modern cars. Many people argue against the need to have it in a car. There are aspects like the fact that it reduces the overall strength of the body of a car. Also, most people use it in a horrible manner where they just stand out of it while the vehicle is in motion. That is illegal and can result in accidents. Not to mention, under hard braking or acceleration, the people standing out from the sunroof can get injured. On the other hand, people feel a sense of spaciousness inside the cabin when they have the sunroof. Therefore, there are both aspects of the equation.

What We Think
While having or not having a sunroof in a car is a matter of preference, we would like to stress upon the importance of using it properly. If you wish to enjoy the views from the sunroof during your trip to the Himalayas, for instance, it is better to park the car on the side of the road. In that way, you won’t be obstructing the view of other drivers on the road. This is a safe way to use it. However, standing out of it while the car is in motion is a total no-go. We would advise against it. In fact, if you find anyone doing it, make sure to report them to the authorities. Let us pledge to be responsible drivers.
