Force Motors is looking to get a share of the lucrative MPV market in India and the car that the company has chosen to do so for it is the 1996 Mercedes-Benz Vito. The Vito was first launched in 1996 by Mercedes-Benz and it was on sale till 2003. The upcoming Force Motors MPV will be touching down on Indian shores in the first quarter of 2015 and it will join its siblings, the Force One SUV and the Gurkha SUV, in the Indian market. The car has been recently caught testing on the Mumbai-Pune expressway and today we have for you the spy shots of the same. The car looks exactly similar to the Vito in side profile and it will be quite the spacious one as well.
The car you see in the picture is completely camouflaged but the fact that it will get launched in the first quarter of 2015 has been revealed by the Managing Director of Force Motors, Mr. Prasan Firodia. Force Motors has already received the nod from Daimler for producing the MPV and it is believed that the company has already got the various tools and machinery to start producing the car.
Under the hood will be the same 2.2 litre FMTECH engine that is present in the Force One SUV and is sourced from Mercedes Benz. The engine has a power output of 138 BHP and a peak torque figure of 320 Nm. Basically, it will be a Mercedes-Benz van with a Mercedes-Benz engine and associated mechanicals with Force Motors’ badges. And it will be cheap too, considering it IS a Mercedes-Benz product after all.
The car in all probability will be a 9-seater and will aim to dethrone the Toyota Innova. Force Motors believes that the car will have no competition when it is launched, for the simple reason that it will be class apart from the rest in terms of space and reliability. Expect it to cost around Rs 10 lakh when launched.
