In a shocking incident, a man ends up paying Rs 1 lakh premium to purchase the base model of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. I have reported many dealer-level practices where they charge exorbitant money for weird reasons from the customers. This looks like one such case. Urban Cruiser Hyryder is Toyota’s counterpart to the Maruti Grand Vitara. It is the same mid-size SUV with a different badge at the front. This is a part of the joint venture between Maruti Suzuki and Toyota. It has spawned many models over the last few years. For now, let us deep dive into the details of this latest scam.

Rs 1 Lakh Premium on Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder
This post comes from HarshVLOGS on YouTube. The vlogger interacts with the owner of the Hyryder. The latter reveals some shocking details. He confirms that the SUV has an ex-showroom price of Rs 10.86 lakh on which Rs 81,000 are the RTO charges. However, the man who was delivering this SUV to the owner in Bhiwani, Haryana, ended up duping the man of around Rs 1 lakh. He took Rs 50,000 as a premium, Rs 25,000 as transport charges, Rs 17,000 for extended warranty and some Rs 6,000 for the accessories. All this was forced upon the owner. This amounts to a whopping Rs 1 lakh.

What We Think
I am not surprised to witness this occurrence since it is a rather common theme across various dealerships in our country. If you want a car in a hurry and don’t have the patience to deal with the long waiting periods on some cars, chances are that you will come across such middlemen who will get you the vehicle at a premium. In such scenarios, all these people think about are their commissions. They just want to serve their greed. As a result, customers end up paying huge premiums. I would advise my readers to stay away from scamsters. Otherwise, you will lose your money and sleep over it. Make sure to report them to the authorities.
