The Himalayan 450 is the latest adventure motorcycle by Royal Enfield. Unfortunately, it is already reporting stalling issues.
Royal Enfield is one of the most reputed motorcycle brands in India. It has a long history of bringing trustworthy bikes to the market. Recently, the Chennai-based bike manufacturing giant unveiled the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450. The company claims that the much-anticipated adventure motorcycle has been built from the ground up. As everyone following the release of the new Himalayan knows, the new bike has gone through extensive testing. However, recent reports of a stalling issue have raised concerns about its reliability.

Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 Stalling Issue
During testing, a YouTuber reported that the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 showed a stalling issue. As you can see in the video above, the vlogger Yammie Noob took the all-new adventure motorcycle to traverse Ladakh’s challenging terrains. Initially, they seemed to enjoy the bike’s capabilities. However, the fun ride was interrupted by an unexpected stalling issue. This issue originated after crossing a shallow stream of water.
After the vlogger crossed a shallow stream, the bike unexpectedly lost power and subsequently died. Fortunately, the biker was able to restart the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 easily and it ran smoothly. However, he faced the stalling issue once again. After several such instances, the Youtuber observed that the bike displayed a stalling issue whenever the engine dropped below 3000 rpms. This might be due to fuel quality issues, potential ECU mapping problems, and more.
Additionally, the bike’s digital dashboard indicated misfiring after hitting the ignition. The check engine also started light illuminating. Both issues persisted even after the vlogger switched to another Royal Enfield Himalayan 45-. This signals a potential technical issue. However, it is quite likely that this issue is limited to pre-production models only. We hope the production model doesn’t show these issues as it can be quite annoying.

Possible Reasons For Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 Stalling Issue
As of now, the reason behind the stalling issue is not known. The vlogger also seemed confused about the same. However, the video’s comments section is filled with many ‘expert’ opinions. A certain section of bike enthusiasts are convinced that the culprit might be the fuel. Usually, such issues occur when the fuel is not reaching the engine. This means that the fuel used in both bikes might not be of good quality. While one commenter even claims that the stalling issue is quite common among Royal Enfield bikes, another offered a simple solution.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan 452 is powered by an all-new 452 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder DOHC 4-valve engine dubbed ‘Sherpa’. It is the company’s first liquid-cooled engine. The new engine offers 40.02PS of max power (at 8000rpm) and 40Nm of peak power (at 5500rpm). The adventure motorcycle features a 4-inch TFT display with phone connectivity and full map navigation. Additional features include Dual-Channel ABS and 6-speed gearbox (with slip-and-assist clutch) for transmission.
According to YouTube users, the stalling issue of Royal Enfield Himalayan 452 can be solved by cleaning out anti-corrosion grease from the fuel pump relay and other relays. Another user commented that the issue might also be completely resolved after changing the tip-over sensor. It is also quite likely that the issue might be with the ECU mapping. In this case, Royal Enfield can easily fix this before the production model comes out. Interestingly, one user claimed that they faced a similar stalling issue with their Royal Enfield Interceptor 650.

What We Think
While the stalling problem is a significant issue, it might be faced by all Royal Enfield Himalayan 452 units. As mentioned before, this issue might be limited to the pre-production models only. We hope that the company addresses this stalling problem before entering the mass production stage. It is common for such challenges to emerge during pre-production testing. After the official launch, bikes are not expected to display such issues. However, several RE users have reported similar issues in the past.
Most brands take their vehicles through long rides during testing phases as such issues can be spotted after extensive riding only. Feedback from different types of riders can help the brand offer better products to end users. The production units of the all-new Royal Enfield Himalayan 452 are also expected to come without any problems. We hope the new RE adventure motorcycle addresses the stalling issue and offers a smoother experience for riders once the bike officially hits the market.
