In a rather amusing and surprising instance, I came across a post on social media where the Mahindra XUV700 AX7L was being used as a taxi. XUV700 is the flagship offering from the Indian auto giant. It boasts some premium features and amenities which one generally finds in vehicles that belong to the high-end luxury automobiles. It also explains the long waiting periods on the XUV700. That is what makes this occurrence so fascinating. Let us glance through the details of this case.

Mahindra XUV700 AX7L Taxi
This post comes from autojournal_india on Instagram. It captures this shocking visual. Someone travelling behind this SUV with a taxi number recorded this video. The XUV700 AX7L is plying amidst traffic bearing the UP Government sticker. This might be due to the fact that the government had leased this taxi. It is not uncommon for government and other official departments to lease out vehicles for various applications. Therefore, this could be something similar. But to have the top trim of the successful SUV with a taxi registration is quite astounding and hilarious in equal measure.

What We Think
This instance is quite shocking for me too. However, I know that this cooperation between government departments and taxi operators is rather common in our country. Some taxi drivers prefer the stability associated with lending services to the government. They know for sure that the payment will not default and the work could be relatively frequent. Still, to see the top variant of the flagship SUV as a taxi is definitely a sight you won’t encounter all that often on our roads.
